I feel like not being able to use that play has cost us a few times this year including last night on the goal line. Most of the time teams know it's coming anyways so maybe use a backup QB/RB/Kelce or someone else under center and split Mahomes out or something and run it?

I do like the idea of Kelce running the sneak...

Colts use Brissett as a sneak specialist and it seems to work for them...

I’d like Andy to bring this back and use different variations with Kelce, Tyreek and Clyde in the backfield.

That was very difficult for teams to stop

My concern is that, even if we were willing to let Pat do it, we don't have the OL to get enough push to make it successful.

After the last one I doubt he ever does it again with pat

I think you sale them too short. They can pick up a foot. Line up Williams behind him and have him pushing on the pile as well.

The kneecap injury was a fluke and those can happen on any play. No reason that little worm Tom Brady can be the guru of sneaks and we never even attempt it. It's the highest percentage play to run on 3rd/4th and short. Yeah it'd be nice to have Mike Webster at center with Will Shields and Ed Budde beside him but the guys we have can still pick up a foot on a QB sneak a few times a year.

In one of the pressers this year, Reid basically conceded that he wouldn't ever call it again.

they took the ball out of the hands of Mahomes 3 straight downs and wonder why we had to kick a FG......

Gee, I think I might know why

I understand not wanting to subject Mahomes to the traditional QB sneak, but the Chiefs should still keep the ball in his hands on those short yardage plays, roll him out and let him run or pass it.

Yeah I agree. Have Kelce take the snap and plow in there

Andy needs to get over it. It was a fluke and we need that play back in the book.

I’m ready to run the QB sneak when needed. Tell Andy to give me a call and I’m ready to roll.

This is, imo, the number 1 reason Andy isn't calling a QB sneak. If the IOL were playing better, maybe he calls it. I also think the IOL play is why he isn't just calling a power-I type play. So while I sometimes feel like he's calling gadget plays too often in short yardage, maybe he's trying those plays because he knows that the best way to give his IOL a better chance to succeed is to run those kinds of plays instead of just lining up and trying to smash through the defensive front.

All just supposition, but it's been in the back of my mind watching these games since the BAL game when we went for it twice and couldn't convert that 1-yard around the 50.

When's the last time Kelce took a snap from under center?

I'll be honest, I don't think I want Patrick on the bottom of a pile. I can see some dipshit roided out mf'er trying to twist his index finger or wrist down there.

This is why we need Blake Bell back :D

Brisette goes in for Rivers and performs qb sneaks

Henne needs to do the same

He is 225lbs. That should do it.

Not sure what the actual conversion rate is but I've seen Brissett get stuffed a few times.

Bringing in Henne really telegraphs the play. Not sure how well that would work.

Across the league, and in NFL history over 90%.

Absolutely right. And it's really not a dangerous play. Just because as it turned out Mahomes got hurt on it doesn't mean we should cease doing it. It's more dangerous every single time he's sacked or takes a hit on the sideline. It was a freak play.

If we keep playing without the QB sneak in our arsenals we become more exploitable.

How many times have you ever seen a QB get hurt on a QB sneak? It's a low impact play. Low speed. Usually nobody even goes to the ground and the refs stop the play at forward progress. It's not a dangerous play. Sometimes shit happens. We need to stop playing scared in this situation and run the QB sneak at least SOMETIMES.

Andy just needs to ram his sausage in short yardage holes.

Maybe. You could also put Henne out there and run something else if they sale out for the sneak.

I'm talking specifically about the Colts using Jacoby. I've seen him get stopped short several times.

Well then, I guess we have to find out how many “several“ actually means. Because they run it a lot as far as I can tell. So just for example, let’s say over the course of the season they’ve run it 20 times, and they’ve been unsuccessful three or four time. That’s still very high success rate. But like I said, we really actually have to have the numbers. But I know they make it more often than not.
