Greatest qb matchup in super bowl history?

So rare for 2 generational qbs to make a super bowl. Majority of matchups especially the past 2 decades don't come close. What is the 2nd best and how close is it? I'd say Brady vs Warner is the closest (but had zero hype to it) with Montana vs Marino being the most hyped. None of them come even close to this one.

I think that would have given us the most exciting, most hyped super bowl of all time. But this is the best matchup. Both of these guys are proven winners. Rodgers playoff loss proves once again that he's just not on the same level as Brady when it comes to big games.

It's an interesting point about international appeal. I'd have to think that the Chiefs will be exciting in Mexico and South America given the NFLs push to get this team to play in Mexico.

Also it is just crazy to see how many kids these days (whose parents are super fans of other teams) are huge mahomes fans. The star power between these 2 is just out of this world.

Dan Marino's 1984 season was the best season any QB had, ever. It was so far and above what people had seen previously, it's hard to really bring into focus how productive he was. He threw 50% more TDs than the next highest guy. Imagine if Mahomes threw 59 TDs in 2018. That's what Marino's 1984 was like in comparison. He had 9 YPA in a year with three 4000 yard passers. In comparison, 12 guys threw for 4000 in 2018 and 17 for over 3700. Montana was well within his prime at this point, and both guys are easily top-10 all time guys, with Montana being top-3 for many and Marino top-10.

In this case, Mahomes is well within his prime, but Brady is clearly diminished from what he once was. Even if they end up 1-2 all-time, Brady isn't one of the elite QBs, as his awful second half in the NFCCG showed.
