Anyone having trouble finding a place to get a shot? I tried to use the missouri covid vaccine site and it was literally awful. Found the above website much more helpful. It allows you to search for the different vaccines.

I was able to get the J&J vaccine about 20 minutes from me. All I had to do to get the shot is fill out an online account for the pharmacy and take an assessment. Said I have a medical condition (high blood pressure) and that's all it took. All I had to do was show up and bring my driver's licenses. Was in and out in 10 minutes.

If you have Walgreens in your area, create an account, log in, search for your city/zip then work your way further out until you find openings. Got my first shot yesterday using that approach.

Great advice.

Also if you have a relationship with a doctor or clinic use it.

I called my doctor said I wanted it, and I had an appointment like three days later.

And for the record, there are all types of people getting vaccinated. Young, Old, different ethnicities. If you want one, just go get one.

Yep. I was wasting my time searching the state site by my zip code and signing up on overflow sites.

Walgreens took my out of state drivers license (I'm renewing it in state when it expires next month) with no questions asked. IMO, its a numbers game so there's one more vaccinated person walking around. Plus each location in this area had 20+ some appts available everyday this week.

It's a lot easier now that the production and rollout is up. The problem in some areas was the temp requirement of both the Moderna and Pfizer. Not a lot of places have the deep freeze needed for those.
Glad to hear more of you are getting shot up.

So they'll just post they have extra spots to fill, you sign up that day and just show up regardless of if you are actually eligible yet or not?

It posts when appointments become available, they just fill up within minutes because everyone is trying to sign up.

I used to just try to look up available appointments and thought it was weird there was never any available anywhere. Then I found out they are available daily, just fill up ridiculously fast.

When I signed up it was an appointment for the next day. They also didn’t ask/care if I was eligible, but I was eligible anyways.

If you go to Walmarts site at Midnight that is when they release the openings for the following week. Make sure you have an account and be fast because they all fill up within 5 mins.

Signed up for our local place, and it rejected me because I'm 43 and healthy.

There are easily enough shots here to do everyone, but we have to wait until whoever decides it's time to move to the next stage. Sigh.

I scheduled mine in KS (Shawnee County) a couple days ago. I'm nearly 40 - and pretty healthy, but the phase dictates "other medical conditions", a couple of which I qualified for.

Smoker - it even lists cigars. I smoke a cigar about once a week.
BMI over 25. I'm sitting pretty at 25.8.

I've got no other medical "conditions", and i'm not a critical worker, so take that FWIW.

Here's several places in the metro area that have the J&J vax in stock. If you all don't mind driving down my way we have appts available all over. I scheduled my appt yesterday at noon and had my shot at 430 the same day. Fiance scheduled last night and had her shot at 10 am.

I used something called Armorvax to find an appointment. I don’t know if that’s available in every state or just certain ones, but I finally got an appointment next Tuesday 80 miles away. Finding an open slot reminded me of the old days of calling Ticketmaster when Chiefs/concert tickets would go on sale, and you’d have to keep calling over and over until you didn’t get a busy signal.

The location I went to was also not checking IDs or pre existing. Just temp at the door. And I appreciate that, last thing those people need to be doing is running patients through eligiblity... My license this, or my doctor that, or this website says.... None of that. Name, "address", and jab.

Got lucky, a facebook friend posted an overage at a church just 10 mins from me.

Moderna's efficacy is 95%. J&J is ~70%

Other than the requirement of a second shot, I'd say you did pretty well.

Yeah but it's important to remember that "Eligible For" is not the same as "Able to get". I expect that really means they'll just be able to be on a list and if they're very, very lucky they'll get their number called, which is not a substantial change from the current status. I hope I'm wrong but I'm not predicting on demand you can make an appointment and within a week get a vaccine until August at the earliest based on what I've heard regarding supply and distribution rates. It would be awesome if it was substantially earlier though.
