The new franchise mode stuff looks and feels promising, definitely get more minor injuries during the season so depth is always good

Practice gives the most upgrades based on how intense it is. So full pads, light pads, no pads. But, if you have the setting on, players can get injured in padded practice.

So far team building seems to be better, staff gets upgraded regularly and the ai seems to draft better

There is a HOF induction, it gives like a temporary boost to players of that position like an inspiration bonus.

In the regular season you can do different types of practices. Like you can do a light practice with no pads or a full padded practice where players have a chance to get hurt. There’s Also like press conferences before games now

Drafted players will take the new number rule into consideration.

Had multiple CPU drafted players with numbers like 8 on WRs or 15 on MLBs.

Momentum bar.

Each team's home stadium has unique levels of perks. 3 for the home team, and 2 for the away team (Not sure if the away teams perks are unique to the opponent, or the home team' stadium).

The game starts off with the first level of perks for the home team, and every play (the bigger the play, the bigger the influence) has an effect on the momentum bar.

Picture it like below, H meaning Home team perk, A meaning Away team perk.

A->A->(H)->H->H

After a big play for the home team it could move to unlock the second tier of perks for the home team.

A->A->H->(H)->H

But wait! The away team just got a pick six swinging the momentum their way!

A->(A)->H->H->H

Perks are things like disabling hot routes for primary receivers, delayed motion, play art hints, primary receiver hints, etc. The higher the tier of perk, the more powerful the perk. Nothing game-breaking though, which is good.

Brand new super bowl intro and win animations too

Scouting is getting an overhaul too, to be updated in a live service update in September.

You're gonna have a majority of jaded previous players skeptical of EA's ability to turn the ship around and that is definitely fair but I appreciate that there at least appears to be an effort in regards to revitalizing Madden's Franchise mode.

I'm not sure if I'll be buying Madden, just switched to PC and I really only enjoy playing an online franchise if there are 26+ dedicated owners but this looks to be a step in the right direction.

Yeah, in QB1 mode we got like 1 season of "story" and it just stopped. Plus the story we did get felt so disjointed and forced.

New upgrades sound good in theory but I'll wait until it comes out and reviews start dropping to make a decision on buying.

One of the most highly-requested features for Franchise was a more robust scouting feature when searching for your future star player. Since Scouting is a significant structural overhaul and fundamental piece of the Franchise experience, there will be a Live Service update targeted for September. This will require players to restart their Franchise in Madden NFL 22 after downloading the Title Update.

This is fantastic.

We are introducing a new fatigue system, where fatigue levels will carry over from game to game. This new feature ties in directly with the new Dynamic Gameday feature so when and where you play matters more now than ever before.

During the duration of every game, players will fatigue as they have in the past, but will only be able to recover up to a certain point. This will help simulate how players wear down throughout a game, to the point that they are never fully at the same energy levels at the end of the game as they were at the start of the game.

As players fatigue during the game, specific position-based ratings will start to decrease. For example, a running back with 92 Speed at the start of the game, may not be able to fully reach that speed in the 4th quarter if he has had a bunch of carries earlier in the game.

And the fatigue carries over from game to game. And playing on a short week, or on the road, actually matters now.

Each player will earn back a certain amount of daily fatigue recovery on non-game days.

As the season progresses, that daily fatigue recovery lessens simulating how the NFL season is a grind. This also means you will need to pay closer attention to your player’s fatigue levels as you get deeper into the season.

When you play your game also factors in tremendously as teams on a short week will obviously have fewer days to recover. Therefore, you may need to change up your intensity and reps to give your starters more rest during the week so they can be fresher for the game.

Playing on the road is also a factor as you will have one less daily recovery day for road games to help simulate a “travel day.”

Temporary Attribute Boosts/Nerfs

One of the more common rewards that will come from scenarios this year is temporary attribute boosts, or potential nerfs, for both your team as well as individual players.
Depending on the situation and scenario completed, your team or player can end up with a large boost to key ratings for the next game or a smaller boost that lasts a bit longer. Conversely, failing certain scenarios can result in the opposite effect where your team or player may suffer a ratings nerf for a certain number of games.

Obviously, balance is a key element here. While we certainly want you to feel the effects, we don’t want them to feel overpowered or, in the case of nerfs, too frustrating.

The majority of our scenarios will follow a 3, 5, 7 scale with a +/- 7 being the least common boost that will usually only last one game, while +/- 3’s and 5’s will tend to be more common and can last anywhere from one to three games.

I just wish they would fix how the game feels. whenever I play the CPU and get tackled, it's an instant, hit-stick level /highlight level hit every single time; and I get stopped in my tracks. and get sucked into tackles it seems when I'm anywhere close to someone. getting stoned by a 190lb CB while playing as a 250+ TE is annoying.

is stuff like that caused by the game 'engine' (or whatever it's called)? past football games from memory about 10 years ago didn't feel this way.

I'm hoping it's a great game. I'm a franchise player and don't play on line; and very very very rarely venture into MUT (but never spend real money on it)...I'd love for this game to be really good ; I've been in a football gaming desert for a few years.

Adding features to make a deeper franchise mode is only half of it for me. I want them to overhaul the gameplay. It's gotten so stale. It's felt the same for the past decade. The stupid animation based scripted gameplay got really old. I know fuck all about video game engines, but I've seen many people complain about the Frostbite Engine using "real player motion" and how they need to scrap it and use something more physics based.

Verdict

Madden NFL 22 is a grab bag of decent – if frequently underwhelming – ideas hurt by poor execution. Face of the Franchise, to put it mildly, is a mess. Homefield advantage is a solid addition, but it doesn’t quite capture the true extent of real on-field momentum swings. The new interface is an eyesore, and the new presentation is cast in a strange and unflattering shade of sickly green. It’s smoother and marginally more refined, but in so many ways it’s the same old Madden. In short, if you’re hoping for a massive leap forward for the series on the new generation of consoles (or on the old ones), you’re apt to be disappointed.

wtf bruh, this game is WORSE Than last year! Not talking about the features, etc., but the gameplay. Even the AI is dumb, the tackles are all weird, and I NEVER had any weird bugs like you see on YouTube last year.

This year I completed a pass, I'm about 11 yards downfield and all the sudden whistle is called and in for a 3 yard pass. Literally, a lineman fell down and as soon as he touched the ground I was 'downed' LOL WHAT? I had the ball way down the field, my lineman did not have the ball!

This is fucking bullshit. I set up a quick franchise mode and played a game and had no issue just to see. So then I started over and spent 2 hours setting up franchise mode the way I normally would and 2 out of the 4 games I've played have had this stupid bug. Sixty fucking dollars just for updated rosters and a 17 game schedule. For some stupid reason that's worth it to me, I didn't need any new features. And I can't even play the fucking games. Fuck these people.

Seriously, I'm so fucking pissed. I haven't seen one place online where EA has addressed this issue. I have limited free time and one of the few things I like doing with it is running through franchise mode. It's therapeutic and shit. I finished a run with the dolphins in June on m21, and thought to myself, I'll just wait till August to start another franchise mode since the new game will have the 17 game seasons. I was bored so I bought it. I kinda like the MUT mode but this year it's terrible.

You know what's fucked up? Mahomes is the worst QB in MUT and pretty much everyone that plays the mode talks about that. Daniel fucking Jones is a far superior QB in MUT than Mahomes is. That's because of a few things, Mahomes is categorized as an improviser and they don't get good abilities, he has a slow release and isn't super fast so therefore he kinda blows.

Really dumb because Mahomes is the best player and a once in a 100 year type of player.

But I don't care, I always do a Chiefs theme team and this year they have Derrick Thomas in the game and I already got him.

But the game is ass, they also killed everything about defense. Yesterday they had their little pro tournament on stream and every single one of these "pros" ran the same exact 2 or 3 plays on both offense and defense. Literally 100% of them. It's a joke.

Scouting update? I didn't even know they were finally gonna add something to scouting. I got used to the shitty scouting where you unlock three attributes with your weekly "scouting points", then look at their 40 time and bench reps and hope for the best.

I still remember trying to draft a good middle linebacker and it said he had an A+ in hitting, A in tackling, and B+ in block shedding. Pretty good 40 time and all that. Mid first round projection. So I draft him with pick 12 or whatever I had and the fucker was like a 71 overall with normal development trait. Fucking stupid. It said his 40 time was like a 4.5 but his speed was a 77.

It sucks, because I grew up a Madden nut. Absolutely would play the fuck outta Madden every year, and I spent in all honesty too much of my childhood playing the damn thing, but I loved it. It's amazing to see how the entire thing is now purely animation based and the game can kinda dictate the way it wants things to go just by a random animation for each play. It's the worst one I've ever played, and I've said that 3 years in a row now.

Supposedly you can complete every pass on a drag route for an easy 5 to 15 yards on every play on Allmadden with sliders jacked to the moon and score every possession. The CPU will never adjust coverage. Just inexcusable what a joke this franchise is.
