View Full Version : Chiefs Our likely divisional-round opponents

Rain Man
01-14-2022, 01:29 AM
I'm running the numbers based on the point spreads, and here are our odds of playing each divisional-round possibility.

Bills - 58.3 percent (Chiefs win, Bills win)
Bengals - 20.9 percent (Chiefs win, patriots win, Bengals win)
(No one) - 11.3 percent (We draw those amateur refs from the Bengals game)
Raiders - 9.4 percent (Chiefs win, patriots win, Raiders win)

Just figured I'd share this.

we get the bills if they win no matter what

if the patriots win, we get the winner of LV/CIN

its going to be 0 degrees in Buffalo Saturday night so I think the Patriots have a better than average chance of winning that game...I am not gonna be shocked if the Patriots go to Tennessee, beat a terrible Titans offense, and show up in Arrowhead to get WHOMPED

I don't see why so many people are scared of meeting these teams in Arrowhead. The Chiefs have been a dominant force at home lately.

I'd like to see the Titans lose so that KC can host the AFCC, but aside from that, bring 'em on.

Boy, this really makes you root for the Patriots now.

This is our easiest path to a SB. We duck Josh Allen, and only have to knock off one elite QB to get back to the Super Bowl.

Of course, it'd be just as satisfying to put the Bills back in their place.

Instead of having a bye week we have to play the scrubby Steelers who have barely a chance to win. :cuss:

Yeah, on one hand I'd be perfectly fine with the easier road... it's what happened in 2019 when everyone assumed they would be in the AFCCG in Baltimore and then would be playing Rodgers in the SB. And then they had the tougher task of overcoming Brady's refs last year. Given the rest and prep advantages of the bye, injuries, and all the other shit, an easier path is kind of welcomed.

OTOH, we don't wait 11 months to play Large Ben and then the Raiders... we wait 11 months for epic playoff games, and the Bills and Bengals are the best hope for that on this side of the SB. And we know the Chiefs are capable of beating anyone come playoff time.

Chiefs will get plenty of respect if they beat the Packers or someone really good in the SB.

This. Too many people are talking about the Pittsburgh game like we've already won it. I mean, I'm not a big believer in karma (if there was such a thing, shitbag Brady wouldn't have won seven Super Bowls), but we're still kind of dangling our private parts at the football gods.

I hope our players aren't as arrogantly dismissing them as a lot of people on this board are, because losing to the $tealer$ on Sunday would be like the egg the Colts laid last weekend, on steroids.

The Patriots run a complex defense that requires coordination or switching responsibilities of their defenders.

When done right it can frustrate many of the leagues top offenses, QBs. The problem was one of the easiest ways to counter it is Air Raid overs concept where WRs just cross the field towards each other and the QB just reads the region.

Guess what Daboll created as a major staple for the Buffalo offense?

Buffalo's offense just got to play scissors to another teams thin paper.

KC defense doesn't run 1 high safety trail coverage.

BBs disciple Flores had the same problem. He would run that scheme against Buffalo and Miami would get obliterated.

Absolutely this. We (again, assuming we avoid what would be a total pants shitting today) get an opportunity for revenge back at Arrowhead. If we go 0-2 to the Bills at home in the same season, we were not winning shit anyway. Win today and we have a clear path to a hell of a revenge tour in the AFC and either a shot to complete it against Brady or arguably the greatest QB matchup of the past few decades vs Rodgers.
