A friend of my wife from high school works at the Bartesian company featured in this piece. Pretty cool news.

Companies bringing jobs back to U.S. amid reshoring surge

American manufacturers are bringing off-shore jobs back to the U.S., hoping to create positions and prevent supply chain disruptions. The U.S. is on track to bring 350,000 jobs stateside this year. The reshoring surge has been picking up steam across different industries including chip production and pharmaceuticals.

Cool. A positive development to a negative situation that's too political to be referred to directly here.

Such a bait thread.

That was my thought.. is this another one of those super passive aggressive attempts at acting completely oblivious to why this might end up in DC, even if the topic could be discussed without politics?

Because when it comes to super passive aggressive trolling, here's the champ.

What's going on for those out of the loop?

I recall someone about 3-4 years ago pushing to have companies come back to the US.

COVID and China accelerating the cause.

I remember HBO showing the fuck out of Gung Ho back in the mid-80s.

I always think of that movie anytime I hear about American manufacturing.

Spread out supply chains have down sides that were apparent even before Covid.

I'm glad companies are coming back and maybe the economy is a little less exposed to external shocks.

With manufacturing being more automated, it doesn't cost as much as it used to, at least for some things, to produce domestically. But it also means fewer jobs than in the past. They do tend to be pretty good jobs from what I gather and it is still jobs here.

The commercials are funny but I have to commend her. The product is top notch. It really does work and way better than regular deodorant.

I've never seen the commercials, but yeah the product is great.... and with other deodorant, there's no putting it on once you stink, it'll just make it worse. This actually eliminates it.

"re-shoring" is also called re-industrialization.

A lot of manufacturing is moving back to being locally produced because:

1. Robot labor is cheaper than human labor and robots are getting good enough to do a lot of things humans do. This trend will continue.

2. The US is slowly getting out of the business of protecting everyone's shipping. You'll see more and more piracy and/or privateering as time goes on.

Been seeing it in I.T. since Covid. They are saving money on workplace building expenses. Expectations for remote work are way up.

You got the stank out of your skank? :hmmm:

Congrats! ;)

This commercial has been on 10 times a day. That's a whole lot of smelly twats, taint and testicles.

This commercial plus the Garden Fresh Vitamin one where all the women say "I like to Poop" and then the one for the extra absorbent undies that "soak up blood during that special time each month" may be the 3 most repulsive commercials to watch while eating lunch in front of the TV.

I've never heard of Lume before this thread. It's getting a lot of praise here so I'll have to give it a try.

I gotta say unless you're doing yard work or something 5/10 stinkiness after 12 hours doesn't scream great.
