“ Bettors can't wait for the Detroit Lions to pay off.
Last offseason, the Lions were one of the most-bet teams in the futures market, from Detroit to win the division to Dan Campbell being named NFL Coach of the Year. It didn't go exactly as they hoped, due to the Lions' slow start to the season. That hasn't discouraged Lions backers.
This season, bettors are excited to take the Lions against the defending Super Bowl champs on the night they raise a banner.”

The spread is currently-6.5.

Probably not wrong.

As long as they don’t cover by more than 6, I’m good.

Sure. Detroit has gotten better and it’s not like we routinely blow out teams. I could see us winning by 4.

We were 3-5 ATS at home last year during the regular season, and two of those covers were by 1/2 a point. But we were also 6-0 against the spread against NFC teams last year and IIRC, Mahomes only loss against an NFC team in the last 3 years was against the Bucs in SB 55.

Last season Kc only covered a handful of times. Don’t see any reason for things to be any different this year.

Vegas doesn’t predict teams to cover the spread. Vegas sets the spread so there’s equal action on both sides. People are putting money on the Lions. And only morons bet on games that are 3 months away.

They were 9-11 ATS last year.

Yeah saw that two seconds ago. They went a long stretch not covering which is I stopped betting on the Chiefs ATS. Felt like they missed more than they did.

No. I figured it out. Before the playoffs they were 6-11. I stopped betting the spread a couple weeks before the playoffs because I lost too many times in a row.

The Lions will be preparing for this game like it’s the Super Bowl.

If we win by more than 6, I’ll be surprised.

Never bet against Andy Reid with 3 months time to plan.

This team fails to cover the spread quite often. Doesn't mean shit.

True. Chiefs have been more inconsistent covering since 2020, iirc. Just raised an eyebrow considering DET will be missing Williams, and they’ll be starting a rookie RB.

Interestingly, the last time we played DET, the spread was also -6.5, and KC failed to cover that time.

Yeah I stopped betting spread after 2021. So many fuckin games where they gave up a back door cover in the last 2 minutes because it didn’t matter.

lol this

Why would anyway lay action on a single game that's still months off?

We covered against all 6 NFC opponents last year

Yeah. Andy seems to feast on NFC teams most of the time somehow. Not DET or PHI most recently, but otherwise yeah.

I am not buying the Lions yet. Chiefs win by 10+ to make a statement on opening day.

I couldn’t care less about keeping Vegas happy. If we win AND cost gamblers money, then so be it - winning games is the only important thing. Spreads and style points don’t mean a thing to me.

Philly plays us close, but Andy is STILL undefeated against Philly in his head coaching career!

The Chiefs always seem to lose a game they shouldn’t every year. The Lions are not the dogs of the past. Should make the playoffs this year.

But, no way do the Chiefs lose this game on opening day.

The Chiefs will use the Lions to perfect the "Italian" for Garoppolo. Shove a package of spaghetti in until it makes it's own red gravy

THIS THIS THIS

Two things I'm totally fucking sick of - big pharma ads for drugs that treat bizarre diseases nobody ever heard of with side effects worse than the disease itself (ask your doctor!) and ads shilling sports betting (gambling problem? call 1-800-FUCKYOU).

I liked gambling so much better when it was contained to Vegas, Atlantic City and mob-controlled bookies.

Could care less. Just win the game like we did last year. The SB champ is all that matters. How much you win by is meaningless no matter who you play.
