The two TDs where no one was in the picture defensively but let's blame the turf

Or the longest punt return in SB history where Toney broke ankles. Or the Hurts fumble that Bolton returned for a TD, or the one that should have been but was called back. KC had one offensive TD all first half, but scored a TD on every drive in the second half (not counting the one where they played for a game winning FG). But turf was the culprit.

The irony of the Philadelphia Eagles complaining about the condition of a football field may be the height of hypocrisy.

For nearly 40 years, Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia claimed more careers from astroturf field-induced injuries than the Vietnam War. It had open seams, loose sections that moved, exposed concrete, missing pieces, no padding, germs and bacteria, no traction and by a wide margin was the worst field in NFL history.

Players hated it, refs hated it, coaches hated it, trainers hated it, cheerleaders hated it, reporters hated it, maintenance staff hated it, fans hated it.

Only orthopedic surgeons liked it.

On paper, probably.

But how many times has a team been crazy hyped as a team that's going to get to Mahomes or run all over the Chiefs or otherwise cause major problems... and then it doesn't happen?

Yeah, the Eagles had a ton of sacks against one of the softest schedules ever and a bunch of shit quarterbacks, but that's far from a guarantee they would have destroyed the Chiefs had it not been for the turf.

And of course they also benefitted on offense as well, especially with their rugby style sneaks.

I could also make the argument that Mahomes is proven against great pass rushes and they had completely changed their offensive gameplan around that, and while Hurts had a fantastic game, what happens there if the Chiefs can get more pressure?

Or in other words, how much is this thought of "Eagles d-line >>> Chiefs d-line" offset by Mahomes > Hurts, if the turf wasn't an issue?

Every good QB handed that Eagle defense their lunch. They feasted off NFC trash quarterbacks all year. Their numbers were inflated. They’re lucky they didn’t play Burrow, Allen, or Herbert in the regular season

It was definitely discussed before the game how their sack numbers were greatly inflated from being in the lead a lot against terrible teams.

So on the nose.

I mean, how many sacks did the Eagles rack up against Carson Wentz alone? I think they got him 10 times in one matchup. That's insane.

Bad QBs hold the ball and take sacks. Especially when they're behind. It's not dissimilar to the Bills' D in 2020 and 2021 and 2022. They looked great because they played a lot of teams with subpar QB play, and their offense was elite and staked them to big leads.

But the Chiefs and Bengals went through those defenses like a hot knife through butter in the playoffs.

Eagles had at least one defender slip on 38% of Mahomes dropbacks. Chiefs had 14% slip on Jalen Hurts dropbacks. Yeah, we probably had a sizable advantage, especially since Toma had firsthand knowledge of just how poor the conditions would be and assumedly gave the team as much notice as he could to mitigate it.

But you also have to understand how ridiculous this sounds too?

The eagles made a lot of mistakes, they were out schemed, they were over confident, and under experienced to grind out a win when the game was on the line.

The turf argument is a safe discussion for eagles fans to cry about because they can't be proven wrong, it's just opinion and fantasy... what could have been. I mean, if we give the eagles three sacks would that have been the game? But to be fair would we then have to give the chiefs two more sacks? So now we are back to a draw again? But you also have to understand how ridiculous this sounds too?

The eagles made a lot of mistakes, they were out schemed, they were over confident, and under experienced to grind out a win when the game was on the line.

The turf argument is a safe discussion for eagles fans to cry about because they can't be proven wrong, it's just opinion and fantasy... what could have been. I mean, if we give the eagles three sacks would that have been the game? But to be fair would we then have to give the chiefs two more sacks? So now we are back to a draw again? See how this argument is just a diversion?

Simply put, the best team Philly played all year before KC was SF and that was in the NFCCG. The same one that we watched Purdy go out, get replaced by Johnson who was knocked out, then CMC, and then Purdy who could do nothing but hand it off.

The Eagles believed the hype until KC smacked them in the mouth and then it was "the slippery field".

They might have been at a slight disadvantage but it’s not like we were scrubs at rushing the passer either. The Eagles had 70 sacks and the Chiefs were #2 last season with 55 against much stiffer competition.

Exactly. The Eagles coasted because the NFC is weak. ESPN ranked the top rosters in the NFL and 11 of the top 15 were in the AFC. Getting out of the AFC is hard and KC is the best of them. They were and are far more tested than the Eagles and it showed.

Andy and Patrick were dialed in. Patrick completed every pass in the second half except the throw-away to avoid a sack just before the Skyy Moore TD. The Chiefs scored a TD on every second half possession except for the last when they weren't trying to score a TD, but running out the clock. When you're defending that kind of steamroller, every field goal you kick is a concession of 4 points to the Chiefs. Every punt or turnover is a concession of 7 points to the Chiefs. In that scenario a 10 point lead is nothing.

The best part is indoor stadiums SHOULD virtually eliminate the question of field conditions. Didn't we have someone notice and change our shoes? Other than a few weird overturns on challenges and the phantom fumble TD it was damn near a PERFECT game of football. Mahomes' leg drama and the 10 point deficit at half just wrenches your gut. I was living in a sad sad world at half. I was almost sure he wasn't going to be himself in the second half.

Lost in all that pissing and moaning is the Eagles seeming to forget they were up 10 points against a one legged man in the biggest ass kicking contest.

The turf didn't keep you from jumping out in front, and the turf didn't cause your qb to just drop the ball for a fumble 6, and the turf didn't make you incapable of getting a defender within 15 yards of the receivers on two simple in and out routes from the 5 that went for the easiest scores in superbowl history.

Speaking of superbowl history, the turf did not hinder Kadarius Toney stopping on a dime surrounded by your punt coverage, juking them out of their jockstrap and going for the longest punt return in Superbowl history.

The turf did not stop your dumbass Madden Cheese qb sneaks.

You had the game in your hands up 10 with 30 minutes to go and you blew it.

They literally pimp slapped us 24-7 in the first half aside from Hurts gifting us an unforced 7 points. If they were having issues with the surface, the scoreboard did not reflect them.

We won the second half 24-11. We adjusted, they didn't.

And in case the resident illiterate retards dilphag9 and RealSNR missed it (they did), that's me *gasp* giving credit to Andy Reid for taking their defense to the woodshed with a massive opening 3rd quarter td drive, and scheming two of the most wide open tds I've ever seen in an NFL contest, let alone a Superbowl, and then e executing perfect clock management at the end instead of scoring on their asses again and putting a shaky defense out there to try to stop a drive.

If prancing and acting like an ass on the sidelines led to points, then the eagles would have had a massive edge in coaching. Unfortunately all that flailing and gyrating just made him look like a complete retard.

I remember how pissed I was when Brady's third, and game sealing, pick was negated by Dee fucking Ford lining up offsides in that first AFCCG. But it was a legitimate penalty. Don't remember people endlessly pissing and moaning about how it shouldn't have been called afterward. I was just pissed at Ford. And the defense that got lit up like a pinball machine. Man, the Dee Ford thing sucks, and it pisses me TF off.

However, the roughing the passer call after we stopped them on 3rd down pisses me off, too. Maybe it even pisses me off more because it wasn't actually a mistake by the defense, but a Brady knob-slobber special from the ref.

And then the way we gave up hundreds of 3rd & 10s on the same damn slant pass on the Patriots winning drive in OT, and looked like a high school JV defense, really pisses me off.

If the producer of the live broadcast had just shown the FN play from the end zone, instead of the angle they showed over and over, Greg Olsen would have had to STFU about it not being a holding penalty.

And not only did Olsen say it shouldn't be holding, each time they showed the replay, he didn't even see the initial tug, and kept talking about the dudes hand on JuJu's back, like that's what the official was calling.

I mean, JTFC, can we win a Super Bowl on CBS already, please, cause Fox went from the most boring, uninteresting, pieces of human skin you want to punch, to Olsen. I felt like he was calling a preseason Eagles game as their announcing homer.

Even if we score a td, you still get the ball and a chance. Hold us to 3 clean, you get the ball and a chance.

It’s funny, but had the other team been the beneficiary (Cincy or Philly), almost no one would have had issues with the calls or call it scripted. Problem is most are tired of KC. We are the Patriots all over again so this is to be expected.

Andy Reid told his players to go fuck off and die if they were going to watch Rihanna at halftime.

Crying Nick probably let the Eagles watch that shit. After all, they were up 10!

They aren't still bringing this up are they? I mean, they have somewhat of a point from a physics/geometry POV, but come on, it's been over for 6 months now.

How did they score so many points in the first half and build a 10 point lead?

Did they switch turf at half time?

Yeppers. “Turn off the lights. The party’s over.”

Again, there's a frighteningly large number of entitled people out there who refuse to face reality. "The game was rigged/stolen! It must have been! It's the only way we could lose!"

I don't get it, but our society is made up of a large number of people who have zero interest in reality.

Hurts' last throw was such a dime too
