Have you had it?

How did you treat it?

How big of a deal is it anyway?

My triglycerides have kind of been out of wack since my early 20s. I'm otherwise healthy, in reasonable shape, eat fairly well. Kind of odd.

Elevated blood sugars can lead to high trigs. Get your A1c tested if you haven't. Are your other lipid levels normal?

Have you ever had pancreatitis? That is one thing to watch out for with TG elevation.

Fenofibrate or Vascepa are usually the first choices for therapy. Watch alcohol consumption.

Haven't had A1c done but fasting glucose was good. Lipid levels are all good except for HDL is just slightly low.

Never had any type of issues with my pancreas. My TG levels are around 370 right now. They've hovered between 200 and 400 since I started having them tested 6-7 years back.

I don't drink any alcohol whatsoever.

What are the odds this is/has already done damage to my body?

You have a rare condition where you go onto cardiac arrest if you don't get enough cock

How do you fix hypertriglyceridemia?
Healthy lifestyle choices are key:
Exercise regularly. ...
Avoid sugar and refined carbohydrates. ...
Lose weight. ...
Choose healthier fats. Trade saturated fat found in meats for healthier fat found in plants, such as olive and canola oils. ...
Limit how much alcohol you drink.

Some times it can be hereditary or just your body's programming. I have a super healthy, lean friend who eats a 90 percent vegan diet and has elevated levels.

Work with your doctors t get more tests if you are already doing the lifestyle and diet actions above.

I had high Triglyceride's (230 mg/dL) back in 2021. Two years later and I'm now at 88 mg/dL. I don't think I did anything majorly different or at least didn't document a huge change in anything physically or through diet. I do eat more avocados lately.

The one thing I did change since my high Triglyceride test is that I tend to only eat in a 6 hour window period. It is a fasting term known as 6/18. It works for me but might not work for some. You could give the 6/18 a try and see if changes your test results.

Because alcohol is universally bad for the human body

I used to have really bad triglycerides in my late 20s and early 30s but turns out I was just sleeping 3 or 4 hours a night and drinking heavily once a week.

Bump for HJ

Certain things are genetic, and you can't really control them. You can get more testing done like coronary artery calcium scores and you can talk to your PCP about Apo B tests, but it sounds like you're doing most of what you should be.

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diagnostics/24992-apolipoprotein-b-test

The formula for calculating LDL is as follows

LDL cholesterol = total cholesterol - HDL - (triglycerides / 5)

So, if you have a cholesterol level of 200 and an HDL of 50, your LDL would be

200-50-(370/5)=76 which is really damned good.

My LDL this time around was 71.

Triglycerides this time were 263.

A1c was solid.

Interesting...never knew how they calculated LDL. The equation Hamas posted checks out. My LDL is 33.

Keep that fucking shit in DC you god damn mouth breather.

It's a medical procedure. Medical procedures of all kinds have side effects.
My hope would be that, even here, we can discuss them like adults.

If not we have very active mods. Fingers crossed.
