A record 73 million Americans plan to bet on the NFL this season, survey says

KEY POINTS
More than 73 million Americans plan to wager on the NFL season, a nearly 60% increase from last season, according to a survey from the American Gaming Association.
Fourteen percent plan to place their bets online as betting becomes legal in more states.
The NFL has embraced sports gambling after initially opposing it, but is still dealing with growing pains as it navigates betting by players and staff.

NFL needs to end the stupid rule that official team names can’t be listed with point spreads so “New York (A)”, “Los Angeles (A)”, etc. can be retired.

Put me down for 20 on this bet, I'm good for it.

NFL analysts who even say the words "point spread" when talking about the actual playing of the game should be shot in the fucking face.

60% increase in one year is kind of shocking to me. It's been going on for a very long time.

There is little to no increase in the number of gamblers in the US.

The bookies got their action cut by 80-90% and it's moved online.

The degenerate gamblers who need credit still go to the bookies.

People with money moved online to legal betting.

It has lost its allure pretty fast with me. I used to look forward to Vegas on a playoff weekend, but since I can do it on my phone I don’t care anymore.

No matter how much I wager I end up even like Jerry Seinfeld. What fun is that?

So if I understand correctly, you put $200 on the Bears to win the NFC Championship?:hmmm:

Good luck with that, I know a lot of people that would be very pleased.
