Hello all I need some advice
I'm about to go to closing on the house I grew up in! I purchased the home from my mother after my father passed. My family has lived in the house for about a year now and my mother lives with us. The house is in great shape but due to my parents age and overall health little cosmetic things and the deck needing restrained have fallen through the cracks.
With lots of stairs we decided to sell the home and buy a more elderly friendly home for my mother and 3 young kiddos to get around.
Right before my father passed the doctor suggested that they purchase a hot tub with the thought of helping my fathers arthritis pain. My parents went to a local shop and they took care of everything...install and deck reinforcement. The hot tub is in great condition and even though I suggested to them to get a smaller unit they felt the need to get something larger so when the grandchildren came over, everyone could fit in!
Long story short we got an offer and will be closing soon! The one holdup is the Hot Tub! The buyers are stating that the Hot tub should be included in the sale but it was clearly listed as Negotiable. If a person were to go buy the same model it would cost them about $13k plus the cost to install and reinforce the deck. We are only asking for $6k because honestly that's what the cost of a hospital style bed that will help my mother get up and in bed much much easier.
The buyer is asking to "TRY" the hot tub out and let us know! What if they do something to it or use the wrong chemicals or damage it. Then we would also have to go by their schedule on getting it removed if they decide to not keep it.
Any suggestions would be great!
