My wife and I in 2017attended a service at the Carters’ church in Plains, GA. Jimmy gave a nice Bible lesson. Afterward we posed for pics with Jimmy and Rosalynn and thanked them for a nice service. It was a wonderful experience (this coming from someone who is not a big fan of Jimmy’s presidency).

I remember the Carters coming to our church prior to the caucuses, probably in 75. I was a grade schooler and I just remember my Dad saying the Peanut Farmers are coming, kind of jokingly. He was impressed by Jimmy and I give my 84 year old Dad crap to this day that he voted for him, the only time he has voted Democrat in his lifetime. He was a horrible President, she was a decent First Lady, but I do believe they were nice and good people. RIP

Carter is the only president I've seen in person. Saw him get out of a limo and enter the building I worked at in Chicago about 25 years ago. I waved at him, and he waived back. I was amazed by how tiny he was.

Like IowaHawkeyeChief said, he was a terrible president but a good guy. Did a lot of good things for people later in life that he certainly didn't have to.
