The Athletic has reported Tepper hopes to pair Morgan with an executive with a salary cap and contracts background to serve as something of a buffer between ownership and football. A league source said Tepper is targeting Kansas City Chiefs vice president of football operations Brandt Tilis, who interviewed for the Panthers’ GM job three years ago before Fitterer was hired.

Good for him but good luck working for that psychopath owner.

Working for Tepper is a bad career move.

Losing Tilis will hurt. We need to keep him.

im sure we’ll manageI am sure we will also. Who do you think is responsible for the creativeness of Mahomes contract? It is not Veach. It is Tilis.

I don't understand the rules around this - Tillis clearly isn't getting the GM job, how are they able to poach him for what is likely a (mostly) lateral move? What, they're going to add co-GM to his title?

I'm late to the party, but is a promotion worth going from the best-run team in the league to the second-worst (other than the broncos)? That's going to be a tough decision if they make him an offer.

He initially worked under Candy Wrapper Czar Fat Scott in KC, so at least he has experience working for anal retentive bosses.

Get the interview experience

But stay the hell away from that cesspool

Imagine selling someone on working with an extreme micromanager and having to build your team around Bryce young

There's not enough money in the world...

(Well, sure there is, but it'd be many times more than they're going to offer)

I think I've heard the panthers GM is one of the richest in the league, so i'm assuming he'll pay more for two top executives than most teams are willing to.

Tepper is a hedge fund guy, literally thinks he knows everything and can just spend to a title...he's a moron.

Stay the fuck away from Teppers. He's an immature child with an enormous boatload of money and a big ego.

He's going to make a lateral move to work for the worst owner in the NFL? Doesn't seem likely.

So do we sign up at Panther Planet and tell them how wonderful he is and that he can do no wrong? It's the Chiefs Way damn it.

Boy - that seems like career suicide. There's just nothing but downside to that move.

I mean I guess if you're being hired as a GM and the team turns around, you're the public face of it. But as some behind the scenes cap guru answering to a lunatic of an owner, do you REALLY want to be the guy that takes the fall when it goes south?

Because it's gonna go south. And you're mostly along for the ride.

Sounds like Brandt is looking to get Clark to open his pocketbook. Don't see any other reason he'd want to make a move like this.

He's been with the Chiefs for 14 years. I would think it should take a pretty great offer to get him to Carloina. I could be wrong.

By the same token, there may just be a little EB to this decision as well.

He may decide he's proven all he can here and needs to excel elsewhere to get a shot at a big chair.

I just can't imagine Carolina is the only place he can get that opportunity.

Unfortunately for Tilis, Mark Davis just swooped in and got Tom Telesco to destroy his salary cap for him.
