Crosby chooses Royals:

The Royals announced Saturday that Roscoe Crosby, the club's second-round pick in the 2001 draft, has decided to give up football at Clemson University so he can concentrate full-time on his baseball career in the Kansas City system.

Crosby is expected to report to the Royals' Spring Training complex early next week. Crosby, who bats left and throws right, is an outfielder. The two-sport athlete had 23 receptions for Clemson as a freshman wide receiver. He appeared briefly at Spring Training with the Royals last year, but was forced to miss both the football and baseball seasons in 2002 after undergoing Tommy John surgery on June 25.

Crosby hit .516 in 28 games during his senior year at Union (S.C.) High School. He was rated the ninth-best prospect entering the 2001 draft by Baseball America.
