Q.

Hi Ivan, I enjoy your columns, and have a few hypothetical questions for you to help spice up my offseason. First, which offensive Chief could make the easiest switch to defense, and at what position? On the other hand, which defensive Chief could make the easiest switch to offense, and at what position? And finally, which Chief would you most want beside you in a fight? Kevin R., Denver.

A.

Interesting. I think that Tony Richardson is built like a LB and was a great tackler on special teams. I could see Brian Waters holding his own at nose guard. Those two jump out to me on the offense. In terms of defensive guys, I think that Ryan Sims has the athletic ability to be a change of pace, goal line TE ala Warren Sapp. Remember that play against Buffalo last year when Sims dropped into coverage near the end zone and picked off Drew Bledsoe? I've played hoops with Eric Warfield and think he'd be able to outleap a lot of CBs on jump balls in the end zone. Maybe he could be a designated fade guy. Scott Fujita as a TE? He can run and he has decent hands. Mike Maslowksi played QB in high school and throws a decent spiral. The Chief I would want beside me in a fight? I'm going with Willie Roaf because as soon as that dude rolled up behind me, there probably wouldn't be a fight. I mean, who is going to mess with Big Willie?

That's a cool question. FWIW, I'd like to start doing ChiefsPlanet interviews with Chiefs players from time to time. These are the types of questions I'd like to ask players.

Certainly. 4 yrs. 48 million, 16 million dollar signing bonus. You might have to ask JimNasium to restructure his contract again, but it can work.

Sad this will never happen again.

Yep! Ivan was one of the best reporters at the Star. I felt he gave us good insight. Too bad they don't have anyone to replace. I first took note of him when he started giving us a running commentary of games as they were being played.

Anyone know where he is now? I've checked the Washington Post but haven't found his stuff.
