Well, the lights have started to flicker on and off, and I have a feeling I'm nearing my last post for awhile....The wind has really started gusting, and the rain has begun....The windows are all boarded up, supplies are laid in...Time to hunker down....

Heh, today one of our local stations sent a reporter--and a wee little gal she is--to one of the outlaying islands on the Atlantic coast. One moment she was standing on the extreme right-hand side of my TV screen and suddenly she went flying off the left-hand side like she'd been shot out of a cannon...

Stay safe.

My parents lost power about 30 mins ago. We wont start to get anything up here until later tonight.

Heyyyyy...just got our first real taste of the storm. Lights flickered, rain just pelting the outside of the house. Looking out the window, two tree branches just meandered past my view, disembodied from thier parents.

Gonna be a good one!

Well, I still live...It actually hasn't been too bad so far, but the damn thing is taking forever to move on through....Highest winds around here are expected to be around 5 AM, last prediction I heard...Just thought I would sign back on for a few and see how our other FL posters were doing!

Can't believe we still have power!

Good luck,

I saw what damage happened in Orlando, and the surrounding area. It was massive.

People hit the supermarkets and wiped out meat, fresh veg. and dairy. I walked in the day after the hurricane to buy food to eat in the motel and the only thing I could find was spagettios. Most people in the area had to boil water before drinking. The shelters were giving out water and ice.

Hope you were prepared for the lack in groceries and power.

I'll put the people in the Hurricane path on the prayer list in the morning.

We had a downed power line earlier and went without power for about and hour. The eye of the storm is just now hitting the Atlantic coast. Hopefully it won't be too bad when it hits the Tampa Bay area. I would hate to miss out on any more fishing. :)

Just starting to feel the effects of Frances. Should be moving in more over the next couple of hours. We have a tornado watch until 2pm now and a flood watch until 6am on Tuesday.

When it hits land it should be much more powerfull than it is now because of the pressure so good luck guys.

The storm weakens over land. Especially considering the pressure is higher, so it will weaken. The major concerns now is just that its so slow that rain will build up to flooding and the winds that will sustain, although weakened, will be blowing for a long time.

That one may not materialize. It's projected to go over some high mountain ranges in the Dominican Rep. That'll usually tear a hurricane to pieces.

Gods way of telling Florida to Vote Kerry.

If Carrey had HALF the conviction it would take to punish those who went against him I'd vote for him...

As it stands now he's like "Bush Ultra" - half the conflict, half the guilt, and completely avoiding the point.

And personally, I'm convinced someone keeps throwing out these storms at my own dad. I mean, each and every one was orignally targeted right at him. He better kneel down to Buddah, and God, and Jesus, and Muhammed, and every friggen diety he can find in 64 hours time....

Oh, that's real nice. I had seen that projections had Hurricane Ivan drifting off and hitting somewhere else in the Gulf besides Florida... and I remembered this thread that that little chart on it, so I looked it up and as we can see it apparently is projected to be hitting Florida again... they already had one come from the west, one from the east, and now this one is projected to go right up the middle. :shake:

Edit - Oh yeah, and Ivan's now a true category 5 hurricane with sustained winds at 160 mph....
