It's funny - nobody's even trying to defend Pioli and Haley. Nobody's arguing they've done well.

All we've heard is:

1) Give him more time.
2) He's better than Herm.
3) Pioli can't hear your complaining with his SB rings in his ears.
4) Well why aren't you a GM?

C'mon folks, somebody try to make a cogent defense of what Pioli and Haley have actually done here. Critically examine the moves they've made while in charge of this team. Anyone can shut their brains off and become a set of automotons - "In Scott We Trust" doesn't take much effort. How about examining these moves without considering who made them?

From !@#$ing around in firing Herm, to drafting a 5 technique at #3 and paying him like a franchise QB, all the way to Haley's abortion of a game yesterday, how can anyone actually defend how these two have handled our team to this point?

Here's the rub.

When Pioli and BB got to New England, they made VERY similar moves. And New England fans were saying almost VERBATIM what you have said here.

How did that work out?

Are they the moves that most of us would have made? Nope. But strange and unexplainable things happen every day. Why would we as fans predetermine that they're going to fail? If that's the case, why not find a happier, more productive way to spend our leisure time?

QFT, it's been shown time and time again that the EXACT same shit was said after every move in NE and it worked there. now someone will say that seymour was a #5 or some shit. makes no difference. would you feel better if we had the #5 pick in the last draft? would that change things? no.

And without Belichick and Brady none of it works.

We have neither of those guys.

Do you think Haley is Bill Belichick? Do you think Cassel is Tom Brady?

I say again - look at the paths of NE and KC this season. NE is continuing to do 'Patriot' things without Pioli. Time will tell, but I'm willing to go on record now. It appears to me that BB was the architect of those teams and Brady was a lucky miracle.

I'm not saying we should concede that they're predetermined to fail. I'm saying look at the conduct of the respective actors and draw conclusions from there. The conduct of the respective actors here does not paint a rosey picture, IMO.

in 10 years you can compare our team where it is THEN to where the pats are NOW. all you can do as of now is compare the chiefs to the pats their first year there.

That's only true if you believe Pioli was the true architect of those teams or if you believe that Haley is a BB-esque talent evaluator.

I believe neither of those things, based in large part on how the respective franchises operated this offseason.

no it's not. it will show it self by then. if in 10 years we are in the same spot as the pats are now then pioli did his job, if we are where we are now then....

SAUTO 09-28-2009 06:12 PM

and now VS then is about the same. us now them when BB/pioli got the job

So shut my brain off for the season and not critically examine the moves of this regime, then?

Check out for a couple seasons and call back in 2012?

Seriously, you fellas are presenting me with some very shitty options here. I'm going to review the decisions as they come. Thus far, I have not been impressed.

I'll be ready to eat crow if I'm wrong, but you fellas are in the unassailable position of having no real opinion...so you've got that going for you.

wow no real opinion huh? my opinion is to give this regime a chance. IF by week 8 NEXT year the same things are happening then scream about it. if you look back you will see that we are doing EXACTLY what was done in NE when pioli/BB got there. and some of you guys are saying the EXACT same things that the pats fans said then.

My advice and the way i'm going to let it play out is to try to see some kind of improvment week to week.

For you at least you have the cards...

I am really surprised that there are 33 people that think Haley should be fired. I fully acknowlege that there are several things that I have been unhappy with.... but wanting a guy fired after three games is incredible.
