i think dad appreciated that, too.

My step dad used to make me help him fashion an new paddle every summer...kinda like an animal house thank you sir may I have another type paddle...sanded, varnished and stained. The worst thing was dropping my drawers and bending over a saw horse...that was never fun...and yes..I got the "this is going to hurt me than it's going to hurt you" BS...

Oh...and I wasn't a bad kid...the worst ass whooping I got was over nothing I even did...My younger sister slammed a door waking up my younger brother, a toddler at the time and he thought I did it...It was my birthday and I was minding my own business with a toy and BAM...he kicked me about 10 feet across the room into the wall and then dragged me into the garage and did what he enjoyed the most...hitting my bare ass with a ****ing paddle and telling me how worthless I was...That is why this video brings back some painful memories for me...the paddle wasn't half as bad as the verbal abuse...

This same reason is what made me say something about the abuse I had to endure. The verbal was worse than the physical. Bruises heal, the brainwashing not as quick. I heard things just like the video. I don't like to talk about these kinds of things at all but maybe it's time to talk about it. Get it out so I won't let this shit control my life anymore.

I've gotten some helpful words from some members here, their own experiences. It's hard to put in words how much that is appreciated.

I remember a time where I was forced to take piano lessons at age 7 yet I didn't want to take them. One day I was supposed to be practicing but I didn't want to. I got rapped across the hands and my back with the afore mentioned base board. I found one of my practice books not long ago and saw the marks on it from where the stain from the base board left marks on the book. It put me in tears having to relive that memory.

I'm nearly a foot taller than my mother today and she still has this "power" over me because of the psychological torment I received as a kid. I don't talk about the beatings much because I feel embarrassed over those years. I think this is the first time I've ever written anything about it.

probably could ease your pain going to getting professional help, if it is bothering you still chances are it shows up when you are eating out, or doing anything in public.

Are you actually suggesting he was wrong?

You think your old man was bad... my parents made me fall down stairs until something broke. It was only then that they knew I had learned my lesson.

I don't agree with spanking a child over 6-7. If your kid doesn't know general right from wrong past this age...you might have problems with your parenting style. Obviously that fmaily has a special needs child and they needed to take a class a long time ago. The regular rules don't apply.

A word on getting the belt. For me, it only took once. Once was enough.

That's nothing. My Aunt Wilma used to set me on fire and then roast marshmallows over my blazing groin.

Man. I am sorry dude. My father never treated me like that and may god strike me down now if I ever treat my boys that way. I can't relate and am sorry for the pain you endured growing up.

I have turned off my sarcasm meter, but not sure if you're being real. If so, I am terribly sorry for your upbringing. My parents were and are completely supportive. My question is how did I become an alcoholic with suicidal tendencies.

My mom used to crack me in the head with wooden cutting boards and then sell me to the NFL for concussion studies.

The wooden cutting board part is true... once.

My Uncle Bart liked little boys and when I was bad I had to spend the weekend with him. Sometimes when we were short on rent I got to spend the weekend with him too.

MOhillbilly 11-03-2011 09:58 PM

My dad hit me so hard I woke up looking at the sky wondering how I got there. Another time I went to climb on and ended up biting off more than I could chew, and in the 5th grade, I drew back a stump.
