So we saved about $10 million in cap space.

Next up:

Matt Cassel
Andy Studebaker
Ryan Succop

So, back to discussing CBs, how about Sam Shields?

I know it upsets you that you left to get a Hi-C and Williamson posted this without you being able to copy it to Chiefsplanet the second it came out. Ha.

Ok, you left to get a Bud and weren't there to copy it to Chiefsplanet the second it hit Twitter.

Jackson
The No. 3 pick of the 2009 draft was expected to be a prime candidate to be cut. His salary cap number was at more than $17 million and his base salary was at more than $14 million. Under this new deal, Jackson can make up to $5.2 million with a much more manageable salary-cap number. Jackson is still eligible to be a free agent in 2014.

Damn...that's just an outright paycut without an extension.

Well done, Dorsey.

Mother****erJones 03-05-2013 05:56 PM

His deal saves about 12 million..great now cut cassel, studebaker and find a cheaper kicker that can make a ****ing kick from 30 yards that doesnt cost 2 million per year

Tyson Jackson apparently isn't dumb. Take a $10 million dollar paycut or go try and find another team to sign with. He knew what he had to do.

But they definitely need to address CB, Safety and ILB. The Chiefs cannot enter the 2013 season with the guys currently on the roster as starters.

A bit of a long shot, but Husain Abdullah was a top 25 safety in 2011 according to Pro Football Focus. He took a year off, then we signed him this off-season. You can't really count on a return to prominence, but he was a nice risk that we'll want to keep an eye on.

Ian Rappoport just said that we will go hard after a cb in free agency.

Well, he's taking a pay cut, so....sure, why the hell not.
Earn your money, you bastard.

So much for Baldwin blocking punts one handed now.

I think they will pick up a FA WR. Walker, Wallace or some 2nd tier WR. I see us going after a CB in FA also. And on top of that, draft a WR in the 4th. We take a CB in the 3rd. It's obvious that Reid and Dorsey want this to be their team.

I like this move. Jackson was a flop as a draft pick. But he can be an average DL and did seem to get better last year. We shouldn't judge him on where he was drafted. thats on *****, not him.
