Yep. Accept mediocrity because there will be a better class of QBs in 2-3 years. Haven't heard that before. Oh wait, it's been repeated the last 40 years. Great plan, if you are a fan of the Broncos, Raiders or Chargers.

If they want a new QB, they'll have plenty of opportunities to take a good one in better QB classes.

You are suggesting that we gamble our life savings on lottery tickets.

...

You know what's funny?

If we were able to win enough games to be picking 9th or 10th, the discussion right now would most likely be how much it would take to trade up past everyone else to take Geno.

That's right. The two first rounders.

None of them were top 10 picks.

And you can't really judge Kaep, Dalton and Wilson on SB's. They've barely started their careers.

I have a project for you.

Find me the last superbowl winner that drafted its left tackle in the top five.

You can't judge them on a year or less of playing either.

But a lot of people have Wilson and kaepernick in their to five qb lists already.

That a little premature, but if you guys want to do that I'm going to ask how many super bowls they have won.

Isn't that the point of all this? To win a super bowl?

Choosing not to take a great QB right now at number one because you'd rather, on some indeterminate future date, using some indeterminate future pick, select some other indeterminate quarterback, sounds to me like the very definition of cutting your nose off to spite your face.

If there was a Jonathan Ogden in this class, people might be okay with that. Hell, if there was 2/3 of a Jonathan Ogden in this class, people might be okay with that. We're basically talking about drafting John Tait at #1.

In this draft OT might just be the best pick.

Fact: QB's picked in the 2nd-7th round have had more success in the last 25 years than QB's picked 1st overall.

He was drafted 18th overall, which means we don't have to pick 1st in the draft, or even top 5, to get a franchise QB.

Thanks for proving that point for me LMAO

keg in kc 03-15-2013 06:16 PM

You don't have to pick first in the draft to get a franchise anything. So let's just concede the pick altogether.
