What ESPN needs to do is get local, not national.

they could help their ratings a lot by specializing their shows for the region

have the national show at the top of the hour and have a regional show in the 2nd part of the hour

Hello, Hootie.

On ESPN right now....women's ****ing softball. Can't understand why ratings would be down.

You can tell the majority of their salary is committed to blowhards like Bruschi, Wiley, and Schlereth. The worst of them all is Skip Bayless, and I'm sure he's making a killing. Meanwhile, they are laying off the writers and people who actually make the show, and it shows with all the terrible segments and dialogue. **** First Take, **** SportsNation, and most of all, **** Tim Tebow.

Dallas Cowboys, Tim Tebow, Brett Favre, Lebron, Sandusky.

I just described their last 5 years worth of material.

I hope they die in a burning aidstree /walt disney

What really pissed me off was that little bullcrap segment they dedicated to Andy Murray who isn't even American. Who gives a crap about him winning a major? No one in America that's who. At one point it was on ESPN and ESPN News and I was like....nope! Turned to HGTV I think.

Ok that's actually legit. You can GTFO that one.

Just can't sit thru an ESPN broadcast. The rest of the world uses DVR's while ESPN still forces commercials every 7 minutes.

Unwatchable.

Dan Patrick is laid back and easy to listen to. I am starting to miss Jim Rome a little bit.

Dan is the best interviewer by a lot. I just don't like all the Dannette stuff.

Haha you're right! That makes a lot of sense.

I think it's safe to say the market for getting your news over the TV is going to keep dwindling over time. ESPN has done things to try and hold onto market share that many of us don't like and it's probably starting to hurt them a bit.

I'd be willing to bet their web ratings and watchespn are growing rapidly.

Tons of people have pointed it out but competition has increased and ESPN has lost talent to other networks. For a long time they were the sole provider of non-NFL M-F sports which had to have made it ridiculously cheap to get the contracts. Other than NBA on TNT and huge events (Olympics, Championship events) they were the only person buying.
