I do expect to see some cross-dog and $+Sam/Mike FZ concepts out of base personnel as well a few times but not with any kind of frequency.

Additionally, it will be interested in seeing what kind of personnel Sutton decides to utilize for certain alignments/personnel (Diamond with Regular or 2 Tites, Pistol slot with Detroit/2tites/Regular, etc. which Roman/Harbaugh uses quite frequently).

I'm curious as to what fronts Sutton will use for heavy/jumbo alignments with the various personnel groupings as well.

As far as coverages go, I'm also interested in seeing how often we use c6 out of base fronts, which was/is something commonly done by Rex.

I wouldn't expect to see much in the way of Jumbo packages from the 9ers. They've been using it less and less and this is just a pre-season game. I'd be surprised to see it. You're sure to see some 2 tight end formations, but I suspect you'll see a lot of 3 wr sets both pistol and standard. The niners are really trying to sort out their WR situation and they're going to give them plenty of play time to compete for a place on the depth chart.

I'm not going to comment much on the D because other than a few specific players and the fact that the base will be 3-4 I don't know much about it or even more how Sutton likes to play other than the comments about giving the LBs more opportunities to blitz and create pressure. I suspect I'll learn as this season progresses.

So you think you'll see more than a little bit of zone and inside blitzes then.

I didn't get to watch the last game, but I'll be looking for it tonight.

They're pretty vanilla concepts that every team uses (even Romeo) that are used with quite a bit of frequency throughout the season, especially by teams that utilize FZ principles heavily ala the Ravens, Jets, Steelers, Browns(Horton), and GB.

Again, not a whole lot of frequency but I'd expect them to call a few to get some tape for certain players (specifically, Nico Johnson).

I thought Sutton's defense was very interesting last week.

He ran a ton of 46 with the backup unit with Hartman playing Safety. You saw a whole bunch of 2-4-5 sets with Tyson Jackson and Devito on the line, which I thought those two were pretty much useless. And thought he dialed up a pretty aggressive defense for the preseason. A lot of formations with Berry close to the line.

One thing I still love about Sutton's defense and our personnel is the versatility. DeVito and Poe especially. That helps a lot when your linemen can multiple formations so you don't have to adjust every time the offense switches into exotic personnel groups as Roman likes to do. It would also be interesting to see how Ault's help to Sutton helps adjust to the pistol, but I doubt SF runs much of that tonight.

I want to see a 10 foot tall penis with no hands, but legs for some reason, receive a ball in superglued spot on his helmet in stride by Alex Smith....20 yards down the field and run it for a touchdown.

And spike the football.

Then the San Fran Homo's run out and great him to "It's Raining Men" while breaking out into to an impromptu orchestrated dance of "Thriller".

Is that asking too much?

If the ball hits em in the hands and they drop it then that is on the WR but if he isn't getting them the ball then how the **** can they do anything?

An accurate QB will make good WR's come out of the woodwork. Look at Brady. It appears AS is accurate in the short / intermediate game. Nows lets see it go downfield a little. His passes last week out on the flat were absolutely perfect. Cassel never did that in 4 years.
