Ten Things About Today's Game
10. The NFL is a cruel, unforgiving place.
Especially if you are a Chiefs fan. :banghead:
9. This team will never be much more than a borderline "maybe make the playoffs" type of team with Alex Smith at QB. He is Matt Cassel with better scrambling ability.
I said this exact same thing in another thread. I thought he was much better but sadly I was wrong! :doh!:
8. Jamaal Charles may be the best running back in Chiefs history. But he is not a big game player, and is not a clutch player. He is injury prone, and he is mistake prone. He does not shine when most needed.
Another sad fact we must face and another player we all count on to rescue us but fails to deliver when the game is on the line.
7. Dwayne Bowe has stolen his bloated paycheck this year.
He is the highest paid glorified blocking TE in the history of the NFL. I do add blame to Alex Smith for throwing to him so little and Andy Reid for not calling many plays for him.
6. There was a big article in the KC Star today about how Eric Fisher has been mentored by John Alt over the past few weeks. Fisher was an embarrassment against a geriatric James Harrison today. Harrison beat Fisher for two sacks, and was in on several other tackles for loss. Fisher was basically awful.
The left side of the line looked like pee wee football players. They were DESTROYED and saying Fisher was awful is TOO KIND! He was F***ing terrible and a complete abortion! :shake:
5. Andy Reid made Alex Smith throw 45 times today. He only ran the ball 14 times.
It always seems we are so predictable with the play calling that the Steelers always knew when we were running and stacked the line. Add in the fact our OLine is complete shit, this made getting anything done on offense a real effort.
4. The real reason this is a mediocre team -either an 8-8 or 9-7 team as we'll see after next week- is because this defense was gutted.
Losing the tackling and run stopping ability of DJ shows just how valuable he was......
3. Because of injuries, the Chiefs are down to a lot of bottom of the barrel guys seeing the field.
I actually think some of these bottom of the barrel guys did better then expected, especially Albert Wilson.
2. Special teams contributed all the points (sadly) and made one nice play on a fake field goal for a first down. They didn't beat us, they just didn't help that much.
I know people keep hating on DAT for his decision making but I can live with a few 15 yard starting points for the ability to bust one open with his ability. He seems to hold onto the ball pretty well so far.
1. So, it's come down to -realistically- all we can do is hope to spoil San Diego's season next week. We lost to two of the teams who'll be picking in the top four slots in the 2015 draft. That's enough to send you home for New Years, and deservedly so. This team got what it deserved today.
That's a good summary and we finished at our talent level with a .500 record. Mediocrity at it's finest. :thumb:
Finally, I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas. God Bless Us, everyone. o:-)

Well George, this was your finest write up yet as this game allowed you to sum up ALL the Chiefs problems for the year in one succinct article. :thumb:
I'm not even mad or disappointed at this time because my expectations this year were so low. The years of finishing at 13-3 with home field advantage for the entire playoffs and then losing to the Colts in the first round really were the lowest point for me as a Chiefs fan.
Oh well, like we say every year at this time, "let's look forward to next year and the draft."
Have a great holiday season GB for you and your family, especially your Mom!
