He deserved that signing bonus. We've been getting him cheap.

mcaj22 07-15-2015 11:16 AM

8 milllion in cap space so we can sign one of these veterans out there as insurance policies? nice. go get a James Jones or Jermaine Gresham and go to work.

That can't be right.

Maybe weatherman was right?

Per Ian Rapoport

How quiet was the deal between the #Chiefs and Justin Houston? The agreement was actually struck last night, finalized today.

Because we didn't we lost one and paid out the ass for the other.

Can't change that now. Hopefully we learned from it...

Yeah it's the Chiefs fault that Houston and Hudson aren't morons for accepting Costco extensions with FA looming

If we could get a vet WR that's a respectable no 2 or 3 it'd be nice. It's still possible, we haven't even started camp yet...:)

He's usually spot on with breakdowns of contracts.

Prevailing wisdom is that you can usually sign a player for less before he gets into his final contract year.

That's why. There are always camp cuts plus now we can sign Evan Mathis 😏

aturnis 07-15-2015 11:21 AM

Better run Peyton. 5-0's coming for ya.

That's hard to fathom.

His cap hit this year will be less than 6 mil?

Yes. Having a recent top of the market contract to give a baseline helps a lot. The only reason DT hasn't been signed is because there isn't a recent top WR contract to provide a baseline. DT and Dez are trying to use Calvin Johnson's contract but the only reason CJ got that was because of the old CBA. Demaryius and Dez will set the standard that guys like AJ Green and Julio Jones will use next year.

milkman 07-15-2015 11:22 AM

That really doesn't make sense for either Houston or the Chiefs.
