Matt cassel took something like 45 sacks behind the same ol that brady takes 20 sacks behind. The difference also between cassels protection and ortons protection behind the same ol was night and day.
Remember two years ago when 3 of Peytons ol was out and yet no team could touch him? It's because Peyton adjusted to get rid of the ball lightning quick. Rodgers has always done the same.
Good qbs can slide in the pocket. They make fast reads and get rid of the ball quickly. They spot the hot read instantly and adjust the protections when they see the Blitz coming. They are actually dangerous throwing on the run, which extends plays. They throw deep to loosen up the pass rush and punish over aggressiveness. They do hard counts like Rodgers to keep defenses on their toes. They audible out of busted plays. I have almost never seen alex do ANY of these things. |
