So which tackle was more impressive from a sound standpoint?

1. Breeland leveling White.
2. Sorensen performing a spontaneous splenectomy on Tannehill?
3. DJ making that Faider running back cry?

Nah.

Breeland's been passed around the league. Teams know what he can do and no one was offering him enough to leave the Chiefs, who had been wanting to re-sign him.

As I mentioned yesterday about re-signing Breeland, the Chiefs are way ahead of the curve because they're bringing back more than 22 guys that started at one point for them last season, which should be a huge advantage considering the lack of OTA's, minicamps and workouts at the team facility.

All they're missing is a game changing running back who can carry the load for the better part of 19 games.

As far as RB is concerned I think this move gives them a huge chance to get someone like Dobbins in the second round.

Does signing our own free agents figure in to next years calculation for comp picks?

Nope

I think I'm to the point that I want a every down back for the only reason to protect Patrick Mahomes. We're going to win regular season games no matter what. When it comes to the playoffs, let it fly and chuck it.

The biggest threat to us getting Murray or Queen are the Ravens and Green Bay. I think we have a chance to get Queen due to his inexperiance, GB signing a LB this offseason already and their need for a right tackle and WR. So maybe Veach senses this and get this deal done knowing we'll be getting an LB in the first and all the best cb's will likely be gone by the time we pick again. Willie Gay gives us a good option if Queen goes though.

Green Bay is taking a WR, they have to, I actually wouldn't be surprised if they moved up for Ruggs.

Huge news! Interested to see where the cap space is coming from.

I think a vast majority of posters on here have such a short-term vision when it comes to this years draft. Yesterday the narrative was we need a corner in the first round! Today, we need a linebacker in the first! Veach is playing chess not checkers. I'd imagine he will address linebacker through free agency prior to the draft. From there he is free to roll with best pick available as so many of these one year deals expire heading into 2021. Wide receiver, running back, corner, linebacker, offensive line will all need to be addressed heading into 2021.

Are other teams doing as much as we are in the offseason so far? Seems like Veach is bored.

ChiliConCarnage 04-09-2020 12:20 PM

I'm shocked. Put me on the list of people surprised this is all he could get.

From the wording, it's most likely a Vet Minimum deal with incentives up to $4.5 million so at this point in time, they should be fine.

July 15th is really their deadline to make something happen with Jones so that they have enough cap space to sign their draftees.

Holy shit.

With an off-season of hell for every franchise, we are keeping the gang 99% together.

Future is very bright!

I'm shocked we actually got to keep Breeland. Shocked and pumped. Where the hell is this money coming from? They absolutely have to be banking on something with Jones. Hope they get him signed before the draft. Mahomes after.

Vet Minimum, Dude.

Only the Top 51 salaries count against the cap, which allows them to continue signing guys to 1 year Vet Minimum deals ad nauseam.

Agree that it should all be about adding the most impact rather than just looking at need.

That's why I've been advocating for considering an offensive playmaker at 32 i one of the WRs falls, or if a RB is there that the Chiefs think adds a new dimension to the offense.

Gay fits the bill because he has all-pro physical gifts and play skills. Obviously Queen and Murray are in that category, too.

I don't know there's an offensive lineman at 32 that fits that bill.
