They're both completely washed. It's gonna be an epic dumpster fire

How long is it going to take Brady and those receivers to get on the same page and get their timing down? Not having an offseason could impact how they start the season. Might not be enough to make them miss the playoffs, but could absolutely keep them from winning the Division or getting the 1-seed.

TB also had the 11th worst adjusted sack rate and the 9th worst adjusted line yards.

Basically, they had one of the 10 worst OL’s in the league last year.

Good thing Brady runs like a gazelle!

I’m not sold on the Tampa defense.

They allowed 449 points last year. Only 3 teams allowed more.

They had 47 sacks, which is pretty good. I doubt it’s sustainable for them though. 19.5 came from Shaq Barrett, whose previous career high was 5.5. 8.5 came from JPP, who’s is 31. Next highest was 6 and everyone else had 2.5 or less.

They allowed 270 passing yards per game, which was 3rd worst in the league. This might also explain some of the sack numbers. They were so bad against the pass that teams possibly threw more than usual. Despite teams throwing against them so much, they only managed 12 picks.

I get that throwing 30 picks hurts your defense. Brady won’t do that, but he also won’t throw for 5,000 yards either.

We saw how easily Mahomes shredded the Titans defense twice. Brady looked absolutely horrible against them. Yeah his weapons weren’t very good last year, but 20-37, 209 yards, and a pick 6? That’s horrible. When Mahomes has zero weapons and Kelce playing (probably hungover) against the Colts, he still managed 321 and a TD.

Tampa Bay needs a first round bye to be a contender. Otherwise, they have zero chance at a Super Bowl.

You touched on it later in the post, but their QB had like 40 turnovers. It would be difficult for any defense to excel given those circumstances. I'm not saying they're great or anything, but I'm sure they'll perform better this season just by virtue of having a smart QB who moves the chains and doesn't hand them shitty field position.

I would say that the Buccaneers are better than the Chiefs at WR and TE but far inferior at QB at this point, which is why they will struggle to get to 8 wins.

Mike Evans is incredible and Godwin really turned up this past season, but after that they've got no depth. IIRC, they lost Perriman (and he kinda sucked anyway).

It's essentially Hill, Watkins, Hardman and Robinson vs Evans and Godwin.

But in all likelihood their sack numbers will come way down. Fewer sacks with that secondary means disaster.

Godwin is better than the 3 guys you mentioned. I believe they will end up with one of the top receivers in the draft.

Isn't Matt Cassel and his contract the response to this?

Leave it to Belichick to get picks for a guy that was already retired.

Has Gronk bulked back up? Last I saw him he was back to "skinny Gronk". Far from the big badass guy that we'd seen play. Curious how he gets back to that form in time for this season. (Unless he already has.)

smithandrew051 04-22-2020 12:05 PM

Fox is behind Gronk coming back. He’s going to lose the 24/7 title during a game on Fox.

He weighed 260 lbs. at his physical the other day.

If they do then I'd consider it, but at present? It's hard to argue Bucs receivers over Chiefs.

Who even is their third WR right now anyway?

I would also add that the QB’s ability plays into what you get out of your weapons.

Mahomes would get more out of shit weapons than Brady would. Give both elite weapons, and the same holds true.
