I mentioned this before but I took my family back to KC for the holidays in December 2019 and because we made it a last minute decision, we drove 1,650 miles each way.

I took the Southern Route (Cali, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas) on the way there and saw exactly two Highway Patrolmen. On the way home, I (stupidly!) took the Northern route (Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Cali) and saw 17 Highway Patrolmen in Kansas alone.

I saw one in Colorado and one in Utah after that and of course, none on California freeways.

And for me, 75 MPH on those interstates was plenty fast enough. I didn't even speed because not only was it not necessary, I was driving a black SUV with California plates, so I was already conspicuous enough to the police.

Seventeen cops in Kansas? Damn. I guess tickets are still a primary revenue source there. Hell, I don't think I've seen 17 cop cars around here in the past three months.

I made your northern route drive once, when I helped my cousin move to L.A. Wasn't worried about cops because the goddamn rental truck I was driving wouldn't go over 65. Beautiful scenery, though, at least once you get past Denver. I'm glad I only had to drive it east to west - I flew back.

I've always maintained that they should sentence rapists and ax murderers to endlessly drive across Kansas. Can't imagine doing it for a living. LMAO

Also, I wanted to get ahead of/the hell away from the him.

Plus, by that point I was ****ing enraged. It's not like I just rode up his ass with my brights on. I gave him plenty of time to change lanes before I got dickish.

If he wasn't a cop, he was a douche. People who drive slow in the fast lane should be dragged from their vehicles and ****ing shot.

LMAO I do not disagree.

I just try and let that shit roll. People are going to be shitty. Getting pissed off and laying on your horn, flipping them off, cutting them off, etc. literally do nothing positive in the long run. Best just to deal with it for the limited amount of time you have to and move on.

Traffic is slowly but surely returning to normal in Los Angeles. I had to go up to Burbank yesterday morning, which is about 5 miles from my home and I was this close to being hit four times.

In one case, a lady, who was chowing down on a big sandwich in front of me, decided to STOP at a stoplight the second it turned Yellow, despite the fact that we were traveling at 35 MPH. I was within literally one inch from rear ending her stupid ass.

Then, I guy driving a box truck that nearly clipped me not even 2 minutes afterwards, which more epic dumbassery on my way home. If I had looked away from the road for more than 1 second, I'd have had 4 pretty bad accidents yesterday alone.

What's up, ****er lol

I'm in Orlando. Traffic isn't nearly what it is in LA but these people do not know how to drive.

Honestly, though, I went to LA a few years ago (I was going to hit you up but you were on your hiatus!). The traffic was SO bad. Literally, it's as bad as anyone has ever said it was, easily. I was there during the week and you'd jump on the highway (any highway) at 1 PM to bumper-to-bumper traffic. I've never seen anything like it.

Buuuutt, I actually remarked to my girlfriend how good the drivers there seemed compared to Florida. I was very impressed. We flew into San Diego, stopped in Laguna, went to Vegas, then came back to San Diego to fly out. I probably drove 1,000 miles over SoCal/Vegas that week and not once did I almost get into an accident or think some other driver was an idiot.

They were parked on the grassy medians with one cop for each side of the freeway. It was insane and unfortunately, exactly as I remembered.

I will never, ever take that route again, especially in the winter. I was on I-70 from Kansas to Denver and it was fine but once past Denver, it was at least -20 and snowing heavily.

It was so freaking cold that my wiper fluid was frozen so all I could see was the lights of my vehicle reflecting off the snow and at one point, I was 10,000 feet above sea level but couldn't see a damn thing. If my family had been awake, they would have been terrifed.

Oh and another thing. Everyone drives thinking their cars are some highly tuned corvette Z51

I assure you your minivan, Kia Sportage, jacked up 4x4, etc is not
Going to handle like that weaving in and out of traffic at high rates of speed

IIRC (this was over 30 years ago now) we made the drive in May. The weather was beautiful, with two exceptions.

1. Driving west through Kansas, probably an hour or so past Topeka, we encountered a massive storm front. It like something out of a Stephen King book - this giant, towering black wall, stretching the length of the horizon. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. When it hit, it was like instant darkness in the hardest rain I've ever experienced. All I could do was pull off on the shoulder and wait it out. After what seemed like an eternity but was only a few minutes, it passed and the sun came out again. **** that was weird.

2. Emerging from the western end of the Eisenhower Tunnel. Seriously, what the ****? It was warm and sunny when I went in, and then instant blizzard on the other side, icy road and the steepest grade drop I've ever seen on an interstate highway. It was absolutely jarring, and also scary as hell. I made that drive again some years later but was prepared for it that time - I think that time was it was June, and it was still horrible winter conditions. Does that place ever have nice weather? Shit.

as a driver of a fast car, it is almost always those types of cars that are the ones that want to race you or screw with you. I don't get much shit from Camaro/Challenger/other Mustang/even tuner car drivers, every once in a while, but nine times out of ten the guy that does want to try and race me is some jerk off in a 4Runner or a Dodge Ram. One time I had a Ram towing a work trailer step on his pedal in an attempt to beat me in one of those areas where his lane was ending and he had to merge into my lane. Was like Jesus Christ just get in front of me if its that important you reckless ****ing idiot.

I drive across Kansas all the time with work. It's laughable 17 lucky to see 3 in a day and that usually on the turnpike.

On a holiday, they like to be seen.

Just saw he had a follow up surgery yesterday. They didn't say for what.

scho63 02-27-2021 06:39 PM

Dude is ****ed. From the day his dad passed away, his life has been a complete disaster.

The guy has had like 20 surgeries.

Wouldn't change places with him for all the money in the world.

You know, I almost started a thread the other day asking if anyone would want Tiger’s life. He’s always struck me as being one of most unhappy people I’ve ever seen.
