It's more raw than it's ever been. It's the best rap has been since the 90's.

(Mostly) gone are the days of money rap, "bling bling look at my watch, look at my rims bling bling...." that shit is mostly over now.

There's been an emergence of "grassroots" rappers from the streets talking real street shit and it's been refreshing.

You do you, man. I find nothing "refreshing" about today's rap where it is basically all about crime, killing your enemies, and ****ing bitches. The beats aren't good enough to pull that shit up to any respectable level. Back when Tupac, Snoop, Dre, Biggie, Spice1, Ice Cube, etc...were rapping about the streets, the beats and flow of the music were the driving force and these rappers were well rounded enough to rap about subjects with meaning other than killing a mother****er. Tupac's Do for Love, Dear Mama, and Heaven got a Ghetto were great without being over the top gangster. Nobody can produce like Dre anymore and there are a ton of no talent pieces of shit making money because dumb ****s will buy any music that makes them feel "street."

Snoop is the best rapper I've ever heard, IMO. He's so smooth and his delivery is almost effortless. He's more like a musical instrument than just a guy talking/yelling like a lot of rappers. I'm not even a rap fan really but I ****ing love Snoop and always will.

2pac was never about beats, quite frankly very few of his beats were bops, sans shit like California Love. And 2pac really needs to have his career divided into two: pre-getting shot, and post. Because his lyrical content changed dramatically after getting shot outside the studio.

All Eyez on Me and The 7-Day theory were nothing like 2pacalypse now and Me against the World.

And sorry, but i don't believe for a second that you've listened to enough modern rap to compare beats.

I love my 90's rap and still listen to it, but today's beats are better.

ToxSocks 03-22-2023 12:58 PM

Also, if you don't like lyrical content about crime, guns and enemies, then just listen to mainstream rap.

You can find plenty of hollow, empty commercial lyrics there. Drake and Kanye still make music, with better beats than the 90's.

You are the only person on the planet that believes that and I'm not sure you even believe it. I think you are just trying to seem edgy. There isn't a producer today that can hold Dre's underwear.

Dre was one guy. Dude wasn't producing on every rap album with every rapper. Sheesh.

He produced two albums in the entirety of the 90's. What are you even talking about here.

No, there is nothing "edgy" at all about believing music has actually developed in the last 30 years.

ToxSocks 03-22-2023 01:06 PM

Seriously, im trying to think of some real bangers that 2pac produced.

California Love....

2 of Americaz Most Wanted...

Hail Marry, i guess, kinda....

No one thinks of Dear Mama and Do for Love as bangers. They're great songs, but they aint club bangers.

ToxSocks 03-22-2023 01:11 PM

I'm posting this just to piss ya'll off. Fat ass beat....and i'm sure you'll hate him too.

Correct Dr.Dre and Dj Premire are 2 of the greatest producers of all time there isn't a producer today that really touches them

DJ Khaled is the closest thing in the modern era.

It's simply a matter of being able to enjoy both.

Dre may go down as the greatest rap/hip-hop producer of all time. But he's one man. That doesn't mean the 90's as a whole was better.

It's just like the NFL draft this year. Just because the 90's were super top heavy doesn't mean that, on average, rap was better then. It's just that there were some really big names at the top of the list. There's was PLENTY of crap rap and hip/hop in the 90's, just like there is now. There's also good stuff now that compares to the best stuff then, you're just not likely to hear it in the mainstream unless you're searching it out.

The 90s was the golden era of hip hop like the 20s was for Jazz. People will still talk about Dr.Dre, Wu-Tang, Snoop, whoever in 10 years. Nobody will remmeber these generation fruit rappers. They aren't putting out anything new or really even that creative. It's similar to what happened to Rock & Disco.
