But apparently they let Toney get away with it the rest of the game, which is hilarious. He's a moron for lining up offsides for an entire game, and I'm surprised the refs didn't nail him much earlier.

Most basic aspect of football is lining up away from the neutral zone, yet the Chiefs have had two game-changing brain farts with a lack of discipline. Andy not putting enough emphasis on this, apparently. Can't blame the new receivers coach for Dee Ford, but I will blame him for Toney lining up wrong.

:shake:

And not a good look for Toney or the coaching staff that this guy was not lining up correctly all game.

That is just bad. Bad officiating and bad on Toney to get that close to the LOS. Just take a 1/4 step back.

It sucks but there's not a lot you can probably do. The NFL tried to make an example of us and learned quickly why it's hard to change points of emphasis in midseason. Sucks that we got scapegoated for the NFL to learn that the hard way. Focusing on that now is just going to lead to OTs playing tentative at a crucial stretch

That makes way more sense for Reid to be livid. That certainly feels like the refs were holding it in their back pocket which is a bad bad look for the officials.

Yeah, if the argument is that the NFL wanted less WRs doing that they could have sent him a warning early then a flag.

But to let him do that the whole game and then pull it out final drive KC had that was do or die seems off.

So you're saying the NFL went "Hey, make this a point of emphasis moving forward" and the refs took that to mean "Hey, make this a point of emphasis moving forward for the Chiefs but ignore the rest of the league"?

If they were focusing on it, it would be called in every game against every team.

That's frustrating. We all know that the players have to figure out early in the game how the officials are going to call the game, and adjust accordingly. Toney was given no reason to see an adjustment until the most critical play of the game, when the official decided to change his pattern of officiating.

Toney didn't change, the official did.

Like Reid said, they would normally be warned. They never warned them after these other times. If you don't call it or advise about it, then don't call it.

Oh, and those 11 other times this was called all year were all on Tush Pushes.... ****ing NFL is pathetic.

Damn, I had convinced myself Toney was just an idiot, but this shit is crazy. If they had thrown the flag early in the game or just told him they weren't comfortable with how close he was to the line, none of this bullshit blows up at the end of the game. At best the officiating just sucks, at worst the official had an axe to grind and set him up for failure.

And to be frank, he's ****ing 8 feet from the ball and looking at it. You have to be a moron to not realize you're not even close to legal. As a WR you line up off the center's feet. Toney's back foot is where his front foot should be.

Look at where Rice is lined up, legally.

Toney is lined up almost a full yard ahead of Rashee.

And officiating ISN'T good. But this conspiratorial bullshit that the league is against us is ****ing reeruned. It's a fast game played and officiated by humans, who are made to look even worse than they are because every decision can be shown to the TV audience a frame at a time in ****ing 4/8k resolution.

I don't think its a conspiracy, I just think the officiating is terribly inconsistent and because of that it effects too many games.

They didn't lose because of this one play, I get it. But the frustrations are due to a myriad of things that caused this to boil over.

This is the crux of the issue with the flag at that moment.

If Clark Hunt is the owner I believe him to be, he has already made a call to Goodell... the Chiefs have been nitpicked to death this year, honestly can't recall anything quite like it

Fine them both 10k and move on. At the end of the day, the NFL will not want too much attention on this--they like some attention to keep interest, but not too much to ruin the reputation of the shield.

And, if there's too much conversation somebody might get honest about how this week's event might be tied to a infraction we actually committed, but when they claim it was pent-up frustration about the previous week's terrible call, well that might lead to some much-needed conversation the NFL and NFL officials will have to resort to the spin wheels to decide how they want to excuse THAT call.

All I can say is this, Mahones and Reid have been proven technically wrong on yesterday's deal, so moving forward they need to be smarter about when they light-up the refs about bad calls. They made a huge mistake taking the high road last week, they made just as big a mistake this week when they exploded over something when the NFL refs were actually correct.

KranzDictum 12-11-2023 07:07 PM

Any other player gives it to the refs like that they get a flag and ejected at the least.

perfect pat and Andy should be fined and made to apologize.

Imagine all those Swifties getting the wrong impression of how NFL players act, and supposed SB champions at that. Stay Classy!

George Liquor 12-11-2023 07:08 PM

Amazing that the NFL will review the players but not their shitty ass referees.
