the league is ****ed

Verderame this morning said he didn’t hear a thing on Donovan Smith except that they were Leary about his neck injury.

Well now we know why

Really nice get.

I mean a similar pedigreed OT who was healthy all season probably costs $18+ million. Even pro-rated and if all the incentives hit we got him for half that and he should be at full speed for the post-season.

Really nice resource management from Veach.

Sassy Squatch 11-22-2024 05:45 PM

Yeah, they'd almost had to have been in contact with at least his representation for a little bit.

If he plays well he'll be looking for a 3 year deal at least. He'll be our OT through 2026 at least if we bring him back, IMO.

And I'm not at all opposed to that if he's a strong fit. Move Wanya to OG to replace Smith and away we go.

Oh shit. Great job Veach

Yes, please. That would be sweet to have Wanya as a G but able to hop over to tackle if needed.

Even if we don't win a playoff game this year, it's been one of Veach's most productive years in terms of post-draft activity. It's clear he's doing everything he can without completely screwing our future.

And then we don't have to pay Trey who is NOT having a good year

Yeah.

I know he takes a lot of heat but I think he's established himself as a valuable reserve at the very worst and someone who can easily be a long-term starter, especially inside.

If you can allocate the 'swing tackle' spot to Morris while he's also starting, then Nourzad backfills if he has to swing outside, that can ease some roster pressure as well.

He's been brilliant. The crazy thing is most of the moves have had to be made due to injuries. Would never have imagined this roster when camp first started. Imo it's way better now despite losing key guys like Watson and Rice.

That’s the clear offseason move if Humphries is healthy and plays well.

1) Sign Humphries to play LT for the next three years.

2) Wish Trey Smith the best as he gets the bag from a bad team like the Titans. Collect comp pick.

3) Move Wanya Morris to RG to replace Trey.

4) Keep working Suamataia at T. See if he’s ready to replace Taylor at RT in 26.

What would you do with Thuney in this scenario?

I'd keep developing both Morris and Suamataia as OTs. It's been a revolving door at OT and while we need a starter we also need quality depth. We could shore up the position for the next couple of years and then be ready to move on from Taylor when his contract runs out in 2026. Either could be moved to G later if they really don't develop.

We have a hulk.
