Honestly, I'm impervious. I've seen every team I like win multiple championships at this point in my life. While I watch and root them on, and am passionate about it in the moment, I no longer worry about it. I've come to realize that the day after any of my teams wins or loses a championship, and I've seen them all win and lose in the most exhilirating and heartbreaking ways, I still need to get up, get dressed, go to work, etc. Besides, once you've lived through the David Tyree helmet-catch-to-ruin-a-perfect-season, all other lost championships really pale in comparison. |

Kobe Bryant Not Mad At MJ’s Comments
By Joseph Besson at October 18, 2010 | 9:43 AM | Print No? Then click here to Close Michael Jordan has one more NBA championship than Kobe Bryant and the Hall of Famer was recently asked to assess where the Lakers star stands up against the league’s all-time greats. “He is always going to be within the conversations of some of the greatest players who’ve played, by the time he is finished,” Jordan told USA Today about Bryant. “Where does he rank among those, if you are talking about positions? If you are talking about guards, I would say he has got to be in the top 10.” Bryant didn’t take Jordan’s comments as an insult. “It’s an accurate statement,” Bryant said. “I’m definitely one of the top 10 guards. It could mean two, it could mean one, it could mean four or five. I’m definitely one of the top thousand. Look, I know how he feels about me. “There have been a lot of great guards to play the game. For me to sit here and say, ‘He should have said top five,’ that’s disrespectful to the other guards that I’ve watched.” Oh and by the way Lakers guard Kobe Bryant scored 19 points in the third quarter of the team’s preseason loss to the Jazz on Sunday night. Bryant played just 20 minutes and sat out the entire fourth quarter. “When Kobe was out there, he had a great run,” Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said. “They really showed their defensive ability. They just came out and annihilated us. But the important thing is that we tried to keep focused on what we had to do. That’s the only way we can get any better.” |
good start to the season

Shannon Brown looked awesome.

Bench has vastly improved and they haven't even gelled yet. Here's hoping for a healthy Lakers squad against the Celtics in the finals.

Lakers up 58 - 36 at half. Looks like the bench will be playing the great majority of the 2nd half UH gain. GO LAKERS!!!
|
Undermanned Lakers rolling thru Mileewaukay.
GO LAKE SHOW |
on a side note im watching the milwaukee feed and the absolute complete favoritism showed towards the hometeam is hilarious.
|
Milwaukee sucks and the Lakers haven't played defense yet this year.
Now is not the time for beating chests. Wake me when they play 4 sound defensive quarters on the road against a quality opponent. Otherwise you just sound like another Heat fan. |

ive been posting in this thread for 3 years and ive been a laker fan my whole life. heat fans weren't heat fans six months ago |

Laker games are always highscoring. thats not going to change. Laker play a fast paced game. The only time they gotta play defense is against elite teams. You cant outscore them.
Regular season for the Lakers is just warm up. Dont kid yourself. Phil does all kinds of crazy shit during the regular season. He plays bad line ups. Let his team lose leads basically on purpose so they know how to react to that kind of thing come play off time. Phil's the zen master for a reason yO. |
Sorry, but there's no excuse for giving up 107 to the Bucks.
We know they can score, that goes without saying. But the team defense let them down on several occasions in the playoffs. A dominating team defense comes only through a mindset and through repetition. You have to know hwere your help is and where you need to be just as much as you do on offense. Half-assing the defense during the regular season is going to lead to problems in the post-season. It's early to get too wound up about it, but I want to see some defensive intensity by the quarter pole. P.S. Major props to Shannon Brown. He's going to be a better version of what Ariza was for us 2 seasons ago. He's become a very dangerous 3 pt shooter and brings insane athleticism to the table. I wonder if there's any chance of getting him PG minutes in the future. He's not a bad passer and Phil loves his big 1 guards. If you can figure out a way to make him a Deron Williams-type point, you can justify keeping him even after this insanely cheap 2 year deal we have him on expires. |

Uh, like the last two years right? It really bit us in the ass.... LMAOLMAOLMAOLMAO Relax...You can't play game 7 against Boston defense every night, you would have no legs left by playoff time..... |
Oh, and we WON last night.....that's all anybody will remember
|
I know we here in little old Milwaukee aren't on the national radar, but the Bucks are pretty good team. Not in the class of the Lakers at this point, but we did make the playoffs last year as the #6 seed, and took Atlanta to 7 games before losing the series. And...this was all accomplished without our "should-have-been-an-all-star" center (Bogut) and a rookie point guard (Jennings) leading the team.
This year, the Bucks may not have an elite player, but we're deep and we play defense (#1 defensive team going into last night's game). We matched the Lakers pretty much point-for-point last night until the very end of the 3rd quarter when the Lakers went on a little run. We added a lot of new guys this year (Gooden, Maggette, etc.) who are starting to gel with the rest of the team. Bogut is back from his injury (thought not 100% yet). Jennings is no longer a rookie and may have finally found his shot. The thing that stuck out to me the most last night was the foul/free throw discrepancy. At one point, the Lakers had shot 22 free throws to 6 for the Bucks. The Lakers went the whole first quarter without a single foul. Really? Seems kind of uneven to me... |

Fisher is not going to be getting better on Defense. He's terrible on that end. He's a smart veteran player, but he's not a good defender. Kobe despite what everyone says, is not 100 percent on that knee yet. He's going to take a while, so he's not going to be all that great on the defensive end. Its just not possible. Bynum will be back soon and is practicing and going on road trips. They will get better when its time for it, right now its just surviving til folks get healthy. |

People trip out to damned easy, its an 82 game season, we are about to play game 11 tonight. lol Ooh, and they still won by 11. lol |
Great game by Barnes. 7 for 7 including 5 3s.
|
The Lakers lost to the Pacers.
|
eh
|
Another one of those games where they just wouldn't dial up the defense at all.
Sometimes they just don't appear like they really want to play that day. Yesterday they were pretty content with just trading baskets and hoping Indianapolis would start missing more shots. Indy refused to oblige and LA lost. Folks keep telling me it's early, but it's still a trend I'm not at all happy with. This team should fight as hard as it can to get homefield throughout and right now they don't seem inclined to do so. |
