The Falcons still need another OLB to replace the players lost to free agency and cuts, and could use some added depth at OT, but the players available at those positions just don't offer good value at this pont in the draft, at least not from where I sit.
So I'm going to go with another kid I've been high on since the start of the season with this pick. He's a guy who isn't as fast as you'd like to see on the clock, but he seems to just find ways to get things done and make plays as a pass rusher and a run defender, and he can give both John Abraham and Jamaal Anderson some snaps off to keep them fresh. With the 90th pick of the 2009 Chiefsplanet mock draft, the Falcons select Matt Shaughnessy, DE, Wisconsin |

It's about time to add comp picks, right?

I really, really hate this pick.
None of the people at the top of my board fit what the Giants need and what they want to do. I will need more time. Be back in a bit. |

Are we going to finish off this round and then wait until they're announced?

Here are the projections if people would rather use these. Either way is fine with me:

My personal preference would be to continue until Noon tomorrow, and then restart things on Monday morning. Things move really slow over the weekend anyway, so we're not really missing out. |

Actually, I was just reading that the compensatory picks won't be announced until Monday.
I say we get through these last 6 picks, then shut it down. I just won't be around to update from Noon tomorrow until Saturday morning. |

I've actually been playing the Wii quite a bit. I went to rehab yesterday, and they've cleared me to play next weekend. I can't do anymore damage to it, so it's just a pain tolerance issue. We're playing 4 rounds in 3 days Friday-Sunday, so I'm sure I'll be icing the hell out of it every night. |

Since he's mentioned Chase Daniel so many times in this thread, I say we give him Chase and move on.

You lose the draft.

WTF?
Let's GO folks. Pass up Direckshun. He's had two days. And FWIW, it turns out I'm not out of town this weekend, as I was offered a job today and have to take a piss test and fill out some paperwork tomorrow. |

Direckshun had until 03-18-2009, 08:07 PM....he hasn't picked yet.
BigChiefFan had until 03-19-2009, 08:07 PM....he hasn't picked yet. Mecca can make a pick considering he's been on the clock for 12 hours now. |
Okay, I haven't drafted because I was waiting on Direckshun. I'll make my pick within the hour. Sorry, for the delay, but I have been waiting on Direckshun...

Ron Meeks to improve Carolina Defense January 27th, 2009 9 comments Much is being speculated this morning on the Ron Meeks hire and what it means to the Carolina Panthers defense. Many assume this means Carolina will be moving to the famed “Tampa 2″ defense. This is a bad assumption. The Carolina Panthers will not, in fact, be overhauling their defensive scheme. Ron Meeks is not being brought in to Carolina for answers on improving the defense. Ron Meeks is being brought in to help implement successfully the defensive vision of Head Coach John Fox. Meeks will be what Trgovac was not. A competent communicator and technician who is able to get the most out of the defensive players. One thing that anyone who has ever coached under Tony Dungy understands is the importance of fundamentals, solid tackling and avoiding mental errors. These are the things that are being entrusted to Ron Meeks, and not coincidentally, these are the things the Panthers were severely lacking in last season. In most cases, poor execution was at fault more so than a bad defensive plan. Ron Meeks will now be in charge of making sure every one of his defensive players execute with precision on every play. The Carolina Defense has a long way to go before it is again considered a top tier defense in the league. The Meeks hire is a huge step in getting them there. |

So before the 4th round begins are we adding in comp picks?
|
The Titans slect Sherrod Martin, CB, Troy.
As I said, I really wanted Freeman here (if I could have traded up I would have). With him off the board, I'll go back to the defensive backfield. Some project Martin as a safety, but I like him as a corner. With Nick Harper at the end of his career, Finnegan, DJ Moore, and Martin will give the Titans a full complement of DBs. If Harper still has 1 more year of ball in him, then Martin can be a bigtime special teams coverage man as a rookie. |

Then again, If we finish the 3rd round before he picks, I may stick his ass with him as retribution for all the talk he's done. LMAO |

Everything will stop with the Steelers pick in the 3rd. Direckshun, you can pick ANY time. I'll post the compensatory picks on Monday afternoon/evening once they are announced. |

Arizona Cardinals select Trevor Canfield, OG, Cincinnati
I was wanting to pick up an interior offensive linemen in the mid-rounds to help Arizona in their transition to a zone-blocking scheme and Canfield fits the bill. Happy to have him at the end of the 3rd. |
Kind of funny how this draft has fallen.
I honestly don't know if there are going to be any OL picks of value for the Chiefs in the 4th, either. |

LMAO. Love the pick for the Giants.
Sorry for abandoning my post. I promise there was a reason behind it, but I guess it doesn't matter. I'm just going to let Chase Daniels BE the pick, for a couple reasons: (a.) Nobody's going to pick him anyway. (b.) He's essentially as good as a forfeited pick anyway, which the Giants would have received for taking too long. (c.) Poetic justice. Nevertheless, I've got a stud backup QB now with all the tools. Sorry for the screwup and I'll be around for the rest of the Draft. |

Guys-
Good work on getting through 3 rounds in 3 weeks. After the Steelers make their pick (and the Giants if they so choose) we're on hiatus until at least Monday afternoon. The compensatory picks should be announced Monday afternoon, and I'll try to get them posted before I head to class Monday night. If not, it many not be until Tuesday afternoon before I get them posted, as I have class on Tuesday morning as well. |
Well, this draft WAS looking pretty good.
|
The Steelers select Rashad Jennings, RB, Liberty
|
I'd say that's a BPA pick.
The Steelers would have a stable of ****ing horses, that's for sure. |
I got my draft magazines this week, so I looked up Cody Brown. He was listed as a defensive end in both magazines, but then I noticed his weight listed at 242 pounds. Yup, he's a linebacker.

I was originally considering Jennings for the Giants, but it's largely the same problem, and he didn't bring enough of a unique skillset to warrant a pick (he's a poor man's LJ -- well, at this point in LJ's career, he is LJ). Chase Daniel, however, is a toolman's toolbox of tools. |
