All beer of the style called American Adjunct Lager (which means that an adjunct grain, commonly rice, is used in addition to the normal barley) is nasty. This style includes all light beers and beers like Bud, Miller, Coors, Keystone, etc. They're all terrible.

There are over 30 other styles of beer though, styles that are complex and rich and flavorful and wonderful.

I have no problem if people want to drink adjunct lager. I do like to expose people to the larger world of beer that is out there, though. When I tell longtime macro lager drinkers that there are more distinct styles of beer than there are varietals of wine, they are generally very surprised.

In my lifetime I've drank about every shit beer out there at one point or another except for a regular Coors. I'm not sure how that happened, but I have a feeling I'm not missing much.

Lindeman's Framboise. The style of beer is called "lambic." Its essentially brewed with fruit (in this case, framboise is Belgian for raspberry) and a wild yeast called Brettanomyces. Some friends of mine who didn't have nay beer exposure beyond Bud, Miller, et al. LOVED this. It's really fruity, with lovely tartness.

You should be able to get it at any Hy-Vee.

Yes, it is. Stouts have dark fruit flavors. Pale Ales and India Pale Ales have all kinds of citrus flavors going on.
Now, lambics are more fruit-centric than those, sure. But its a classic style of beer. Its Beligian. You can't argue with the Belgians when it comes to beer.

Lambics are most definitely more accurately called beer than, say, Coors Light.

Absolutely. Every beer from the Smokestack Series has been very good. Some, like their Imperial Stout and the Saison-Brett are absolutely world-class.

Well, the first part of the post was acknowledging UP's wrestling reference. But its true -- I don't like the chemical effects of alcohol. I enjoy beer solely for culinary reasons.

I went to wedding with an Irish theme where they served an ale that was made from apples. It was like apple cider that fermented. Quite good actually...even the next morning hangover wasn't bad.
