Now that was a fantastic episode.
And holy shit, I completely missed she was Bela Talbot on Supernatural and Vivian Volkoff on Chuck. She's insanely hot when she's speaking her not-native language (i.e. brit accent!) on not in post-apocalyptic hand-me-downs. |
Just finished watching this last episode and my only criticism is that I realize the entire episode was during the night but imo it was filmed too damn dark.

heh, i kind of thought the same thing. Maybe turn up the brightness on your tv to compensate? : ) Can anyone tell me why the farmhouse has electricity and running water? |
Watched S2:E2 last night. It was okay, but I'm excited for episode 3. As others have pointed out, it's hard for this show to have a character driven episode, as the characters aren't real engaging. I kind of know what's looming on the horizon with the farm, so that's making it a little more enjoyable.

I can get the gist of Rick and his wife's conversation about giving up after 15 seconds. I don't need 6 minutes of it. |
SO my co-worker just mentioned to me that Glen noticed blood on the front stairs of the famhouse when he walked up. I did not catch that.

To nitpick a little more...
Carl's wound is a liver shot, not a stomach wound like the doc said. The stomach is on the other side. Ol' Carl would be pushing up daisies (or deadish) if they got their anatomy correct. That's a pretty big oversight considering the simplicity of the matter. http://ukzdl.co.uk/wp-content/upload...-survivors.jpg |
If they are running a generator for electricty, that better be a quiet SOB.
FWIW, in the farmhouse I grew up my grandparents huge setup with batteries that charged off a windmill. Maybe that's how they are doing it. |
Shit got real last episode.
Not bad |
huh, i just learned that the woman who plays Carol (the lost girls mom) was in "The Mist" as well. I guess thats another Darabont connection.

TBH, this show is not nearly what I was hoping it would be. I'm not entranced by the characters, nor do I really give a crap about what happens to any of them except for the fact that I keep hoping they will go back to the graphic novels.
I will keep watching for now because, well, zombies! But I just don't understand why they have to deviate from the novel's so much. If they stuck more to the novels, this show would be amazing. There is so much drama and tension in those novels, all they have to do is get the gist of them onto film, but instead, they are doing whatever the crap they are doing, and it's boring quite frankly. And to be clear, yes I know the farm is in the novels, and all that.
Spoiler!

Sometimes I think they're limited by budget. Scenes with two actors are cheaper than scenes involving 40 zombies that have to be shot and re-shot many times. I could be wrong about that, I don't know.

And they're (much) more limited by budget now than they were during season 1.
Which I know is completely the opposite of the way you'd think it would be with the success of the show... |
Sure, I can understand that too. But, in the novels, the zombies are like a backdrop, it's a given that they are a constant danger, so they don't need to be in every scene. Other people are the real danger. Because without laws, and rules, and a strict social driven code of conduct, people turn into monsters themselves, far worse than any zombie could wish to be.
And out of curiosity, how do you guys know the budget is way less. One would think that the highest rated show on the network would actualy get a little bump to the budget. |
I really hope the love triangle thing doesn't develop or go on to long. I want to see zombies, not a soap opera.

Good read: "Sources say last fall, even before the first episode of the show had aired, AMC let it be known that it would effectively slash the show's second-season budget per episode by about $650,000, from $3.4 million to $2.75 million. AMC cut the budget and pocketed a tax credit previusly applied to the show" http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...&postcount=444 |

The whole Zombie thing is going to run its course before World War Z even comes out.

Zombies will never run their course for me.

I remember watching each episode in season 1 on the edge of my seat ... it was great ... now I cringe when it comes on because it like watching a slow death. This show should be on during the mid-day hours when the other soap operas are on.

Just watched Episode 3 of this season. First of all: much better than the last one. That being said, the critics are right! Too much unnecessary, obvious dialogue that becomes simultaneously didactic and ridiculous. I really felt it when Hugh Hefner tried to return the gun to the middle-aged emo chick.

I have to say, normally if you ask a girl, "Was it good?" and she says, "It was a one-time thing," you can take that as an understood, "No, it wasn't good."
But in the post-apocalyptic zombie wasteland . . . who cares? |
I liked the subtle looks between the daughter and father that more is going on at the farm then is being let on.
|
I want my hour back.
|
Meh. I really hope this is building to something. The "big reveal" at the end was incredibly obvious.
|
I liked the episode. The reveal was obvious, but I liked the episode. I didn't turn the channel and watched like 5 minutes of, "Talking Dead". Ouch.
|
I wonder why that hillbilly dude doesn't mention his brother anymore, it seemed like the story was set up for him to come back with his hand being found and all.

He's still popping up ever now and than. I suspect we'll see him again in the future. |
The medicine that he gave to T-Dog (or whatever the black guy's name is) also belonged to Merle. They repeatedly referenced that Merle's case of the clap was the best thing to ever happen to him. He also had a bag of the blue in his drug kit for a sweet cross-AMC series reference.

The guy in the well is one of their family members that broke the rules.
Fantastic episode,BTW. |

I thought it was a good episode, but really hope the whole farm thing is building up to something big and I hope they find the little girl.
|
It's been a long time since I read this part of the comics, but doesn't it seem like they are spending a lot more time there than they did in the comics?
|
I think we need to see more of the farmer's hot daughter. She reminds me of a post-apocalyptic Ashley Judd.

They better find that girl, it's getting old
|
Just had a thought:
the very first episode in the beginning had the sherriff dreaming about a zombie girl at a gas station. Any chance it was the girl who ran off? I may have to go back and rewatch that first episode. |
