Never thought of the word filter messing that one up. Kinda funny actually.

Edit: Ok, that wasn’t funny. Because of the word filter Eff Aye Gee got turned into “pillowbitter.com” and redirected the link I posted to a gay porn site instead of the site for Schaeffler Technology, home of Eff Aye Gee Bearings.

Not sure if this was posted earlier or not. Very cool before and after views using Google Maps, street level.

pillowbiter Bearings has a large plant in Joplin and I thought they might be contributing as well.

Edit: I tried to link the website, but wordfilter got that as well.

Edit 2: Look up Schaffler Technologies for more information.

Is there anything I can bring that would be a help at all? Feel free to post in this thread or PM me.

We'll be there Thursday night. On our list is:

Blankets/Pillows
Water
Canned goods/non-perishables
candles/lighters
Coolers with ice.
We have some futon mattresses that I've not known what to do with...those are going too.

beer....well, that's for me, but I'll be sure to share. :toast:

My wife has the full list. I'll add to this later when I get home.

Yea, first and foremost my business partner will be focused on the job we were hired for but we will be there in the morning. It won't take all day or anything. Happy to help if there is an opportunity.

No reason not to - w/ these type of threads often people will stick inside ONE of them - but seldom toggle between two or three. So I definitely would. Good to know you're ok, gotta ask these days w/ all of these conditions.

Not so fast. There's a tornadic cell in OK right now that looks like it will miss Joplin to the South, but who knows, that storm could change course more northward.

If it stays on course, though, it looks like it will go through Springfield.

A large part of that storm is about to hit our area. It's been advertised as the

It's absolutely sickening, especially in person. No pictures can even begin to show how devastating this is. God bless this country we live in and the awesome people we are surrounded by. That doesn't even make sense. They aren't mutually exclusive and even if you think prayer is bullshit, there's nothing cowardly about it.

For someone who prides himself on calling out bigots on this board, you sure can be pretty judgmental.

Rukdafaidas 05-25-2011 05:27 AM

I've only read the last couple of pages, but my family and I are ok. We live in Joplin, but took no damage. We're very fortunate. I wouldn't be surprised if the death count from this thing didn't reach 1,000. It probably won't, but it wouldn't surprise me.
Pure devastation.
I'm sure it's been said in this thread, but thanks so much to everyone for their thoughts, prayers, help, donations, etc. Also, please don't come here to look around. The heavy traffic is horrible and it's really put a strain on the ability of the workers in getting around.
I spent yesterday flipping burgers for the workers in a very heavy damaged area. We fed over 1,000 people, including crews from KCP&L, police and fire departments from city's that I've never even heard of. People that had lost family. Volunteers from everywhere. The support has been unbelievable. Like our mayor said, "We're not going to let some F4 (F5 now) kick our ass!"

Rukdafaidas 05-25-2011 05:44 AM

If I lived out there, I would build a bunker underground (loosely called a "basement" but pretty much capable of withstanding a nuclear bomb). In it I would place all my prized possessions. Even my DVR and computer (and would run wires upstairs to the monitors, which are the most easily-replaced parts). I'd build my bed on a platform triggered by tornado sirens to automatically tilt up and dump me through a chute down into the bunker, like "The Jetsons".

Lonewolf Ed 05-25-2011 06:25 AM

I am in Denmark now and that storm even made the news here. What a horrible year it has been for storms in the USA... I pray that the ones affected can get back to normal soon and I feel for those who lost loved ones.

I heard the latest "official" death toll was at 123 (or 126, can't remember), and that there are approximately 1500 missing (which they figure at least half of those are people who have left town and not checked with anyone).
