Yeah, if Brooks wanted to injure someone on the Warriors, he likely wouldn't pick on their 6th best player (or whatever Payton is). It was a careless challenge that unfortunately resulted in an injury.

A team with Draymond Green on it shouldn't be complaining about dirty plays and the "code". Imagine Draymond playing 25 years ago against Anthony Mason, Karl Malone, Charles Oakley, Derrick Coleman, and Charles Barkley. I doubt we'd see many of his current antics.

Kerr was a pussy when he played. I'm not surprised to hear his whining.

During that stretch where Warriors came back and took lead in 3rd quarter, Morant was leading Grizz into contested shots and Curry and the Warriors were moving the ball around for really good looks.

Morant needs to try to get more really good looks for his team. Nice to entertain the crowd with spectacular plays, but it would be hard to make the NBA Finals if you don't set team up for more layups and open 3's.

DanBecky 05-04-2022 10:02 AM

The GP3 injury hurts more than some people think bc he seemed to be the only one athletic enough on the Warriors to remotely stay in front of Ja. And if people want the Warriors to win this series you better hope Brooks isn’t suspended. He’s absolute dog shit, you want him out there with that ugly ass jumper taking the ball outa Jan’s hands.

Finding any fault in Morants game last night is a stretch. He was extremely productive and carried his team to the W with an obviously hurt Bane, an ejected Brooks, and JJJ fouled out as well. Ziaire Williams was really the only other Grizzly to show up last night besides JJJ in the 1st quarter and BC being a solid bench presence.

I’ll take Ja taking those contested shots any day. When he gets going he’s absolutely unstoppable. I think the world is starting to finally see that he is an absolute superstar in this league. I think all this talk about Steph is fueling his fire even more. He may finish this series with more points than Steph and Klay combined when this series is all said and done. They don’t really have the defense that can stop him attacking the rim and I’d love for them to stick with the game plan of leaving him wide open for step-up 3’s.

It will be interesting to see what Jenkins decides to do with Steven Adams. I think the offense runs so much better with him running the pick and rolls, but he is a liability vs small quicker lineups. Draymond being essentially just a defensive guy should allow Adams to matchup with him and get the offense clicking again like it did during the regular season.

There is no comparison between what Draymond did and Dillon. GP3 was in the air and Dillion clubbed him without even attempting to go for the ball. Dillon should be suspended for the season but he won't be.

As far as the game\series go it definitely is going to go 6 or 7 but last night GSW only made 7 3's and had wide open looks all night long. They hit their normal 3P% that is a double digit victory

No one is comparing those two actions. Everyone is laughing at this magical “code” that suddenly exists is all. Draymond has multiple incidents in his career similar if not worse than what Brooks did last night. Getting people to try and feel sorry for a team like the Warriors is like Brady fans bitching about officiating.

As far as the series goes, Memphis has really only played 1 game in the postseason up to their normal potential. If they can use these 3 days to get Bane healthy and Adams back from Covid protocols I don’t see how GS has the depth to keep up. You’re probably right, though, GS will still push it to a 6-7 game series. Steph is too good to just layover.

Depends which Draymond incident we are talking about. Draymond has done a lot of shit for a lot of years now.

This is just what he's done to LeBron alone (he didn't go for the ball on either the May 19, 2021 foul or the one in game 7 on June 19, 2016 with LeBron in the air both times and he straight up body checked LeBron mid-court in 2017). Then there's the entire kicking Steven Adams in the groin for an entire playoff series. I don't want to hear Kerr whining about the code again until this guy is off his team.

Sassy Squatch 05-04-2022 07:16 PM

Simmons actually needs back surgery. Can't say I saw that one coming.

So sad that the 76ers are going to lose due to injury of Embiid. Argh.

ChiefsFanatic 05-04-2022 08:05 PM

MLB has an Angel Hernandez problem.

But, every official in the NBA is Angel Hernandez. I don't understand how anyone can think they don't control outcomes or spreads on purpose.

Sometimes, a team just hits 60% from 3, and there is nothing they can do.

But, have you noticed in the playoffs that nearly every time a team gets a 15-20 point lead, the other team comes back and takes the lead, or gets within a point or two? Seriously, almost every single time.

Its so FN ridiculous that fouls with almost no contact gets called, and then there are plays that have bodies running into each other, or blatantly hard contact, and there is no foul called.

It makes the NBA almost unwatchable. Then add in the 30 travels every game that get ignored, and it's just a joke.

I used to love the NBA, but it's just shit now. They are great athletes, but they all whine on every play, and the purposely poor, manipulative officiating makes the whining necessary.

Meh, he’s had a lot more rest this year. Last year he was struggling in the playoffs out of the gate, some of that due to injuries. I think they’ve handled him perfectly this year AND he’s healthy… knock on wood.

Yeah if he is out this series gets a lot harder to win for Memphis. It was going to be tough anyway if GS hits their normal shots

They're not winning this series anyway. Way too inexperienced. But the only real reason to watch it (at least for me) was to see Ja have a challenge against this team.

Guessing Memphis will be looking for a suspension here from the league like Brooks got if Morant is seriously hurt.

POND_OF_RED 05-07-2022 09:20 PM

Jenkins really needs to switch up this gameplan. We’re never going to outshoot GS from 3. Obviously having Brooks out showed on the defensive side tonight with Curry able to just walk it to the hoop. It was a nice strategy by Kerr to switch to the zone and slow down the momentum Memphis started with. I think we need to get back to a physical lineup and try to get back to what got us here. Leading the league in points in the paint, offensive rebounds, and steals. The old fashioned grit and grind. Obviously GS is tough to contain, but we need to get way more physical on the defensive end. I think Brooks can set a different tone on defense the next game, but hopefully he has a decent offensive showing though. With all the hate coming his way he’s going to want to shoot way more than he should. It’s just how he is. Should be a big game 4.

Haha. I love how idiotic some internet sleuths are. “This is actually where he got injured”….never mind the time of the game and how much longer he played after that without any signs of being in pain.

I’m not blaming Poole, and I don’t think the injury will be too serious. I’ll take a pissed off Ja Morant in this series, though. That could really make it exciting. He’s already showed he’s the most exciting player in the NBA this post season. Just wait until you see him when he’s angry.

Chris Paul's wife, mother were pushed by Mavericks fans during Game 4, per report

The relationship between fans and players has been a major point of discussion this postseason. Both Draymond Green and Kyrie Irving have been fined for giving road fans the middle finger in these playoffs alone, and now, Chris Paul is dealing with a somewhat similar situation.

A fan in Dallas was ejected from Game 4 of their second-round series between Paul's Phoenix Suns and the Mavericks, and as he was escorted out, Paul was seen on video saying "I'll see you later" to him. It is too early for the league to have issued any discipline at the moment, and it is unclear if they will do so.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">&quot;I&#39;ll see you later!&quot;<br><br>— Chris Paul to a Mavs fan who is presumed to have heckled his family<br><br>(via <a href="https://twitter.com/DallasTexasTV?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@DallasTexasTV</a>)<a href="https://t.co/z6uc6d5q6b">pic.twitter.com/z6uc6d5q6b</a></p>&mdash; 𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙠𝙞𝙣’ 𝙉𝘽𝘼 (@_Talkin_NBA) <a href="https://twitter.com/_Talkin_NBA/status/1523466936650133504?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">May 9, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

While it wasn't clear at the moment why Paul was so upset, Dave McMenamin did his best to explain it after the game. He reported that a Dallas fan put his hands on Paul's mother and that his wife was also pushed. Paul's children were also in attendance, and according to McMenamin's source, "they felt very unsafe."

Paul echoed those sentiments on Twitter after the game. "Wanna fine players for saying stuff to the fans but the fans can put they hands on our families….f--- that!!" Paul wrote.

Paul is the former president of the NBA Player's Association, though his term has now concluded. How exactly the league and the union could go about fixing these issues is unclear, but the past few seasons have seen a number of high-profile incidents of fan misbehavior. A fan in Boston threw a water bottle at Irving in the 2021 postseason.

Others have been accused of racist speech towards players. It has become one of the bigger problems in all of basketball, and while fans are getting ejected for it, players often face discipline for merely responding. Paul is clearly frustrated with that state of affairs, and if the league won't give players room to respond, it needs to do a better job of preventing these incidents from ever occurring.

It should be close, but they got it right. Jokic was #1 and I'd probably put Giannis at #2, only slightly above Embiid.

You may want to go take a look at what the Nuggets' roster consists of.

I know he carries his team far more than Joel carries the sixers. I was just making a funny as a KU homer. Though the sixers did seem to look night and day different with/without him against the Heat. Especially on the defensive end. Jokic is deserving, I just wanted it for Embiid.

Maybe but I can’t count out Giannis

This GSW - Memphis game is some of the worst shooting I have ever seen.

POND_OF_RED 05-09-2022 10:40 PM

If Taylor Jenkins could somehow make Brooks realize his role is essentially a Draymond Green/ Pat Bev defensive role and limit his shots to under 5 a game this team will become unstoppable. He kills so much potential momentum with his idiotic shot choices.

Definitely liked what Steven Adams brought to the defense and offensive rebounding side tonight. I think if they can get Ja back healthy for game 5 they can build a little momentum with a big win back in Memphis. They just need to put together a game with everyone playing up to their potential. I realize they’re young, but it’s frustrating letting Golden State get into our heads and switch our game plan. Why are we settling for so many ****ing 3 pointers. That’s not our game. If we would have stuck to driving the lane, this game would have been over before the 4th quarter.

They didn't even have a field goal in the last 3:28. With about a minute left the refs said "Ok this game was fun but time to take over". The Warriors got 12 free throws in the final minute and that's all she wrote.

I hope Vegas keeps forgetting how deep this Memphis team is too. A +9.5 betting line was hilarious tonight and won me a few hundred easy bucks. If they put it anywhere near that for a home game I may just have to put down a bigger bet. People act like this team can’t win without Ja. This team plays differently without Ja and can definitely grind out wins against anyone. Ja is by far the most exciting player in the league, but his defense obviously causes some issues. There is no way the Warriors ever have another shooting night like game 3 with Brooks in the lineup. He’s a huge liability on the offensive end, but he’s very valuable defensively.

Evil Danny Green was 5-19 this evening. Was chucking up shit like he had something to prove. Bodes well for GS.

Road game at Golden State, nobody is getting the calls there. Memphis also didn’t take a quality shot in just about the last 4 minutes of the game. They deserved that loss with that kind of execution with the game on the line.

KC_Connection 05-09-2022 11:04 PM

Adams was a team high +13 in that game, why not play him down the stretch of that one?

I hate the Warriors but there’s simply no way they play as badly as they did tonight again in this series.

I went to bed at halftime last night because I had to get up early this morning plus I figured they would play better if I wasn't watching. The first half was like watching every college basketball game ever, total brick city. I was surprised when I saw the final score got to 100.

I have made this comparison before but GS and the Chiefs are very, very similar. They always think they can turn it on when ever they want and I am sure their intensity went way down when they learned Ja was out.

Pond of Red you were right, no need to suspend Brooks he was one of the best GS players last night. :p

She was not pushed she was tapped on the shoulder. Tons of videos showing it as such.

He exaggerates assaults the same way he flops and exaggerates fouls.

I thought this post was referring to Stephen Currys flop at the end of last nights game. ROFL

Because you have to play Dillon Brooks, who isn't very good at basketball.

dirk digler 05-10-2022 06:27 PM

Morant has a bone bruise obviously not from Poole’s super human strength. Doubtful for the rest of the playoffs. Tough break but he will come back strong next season.

POND_OF_RED 05-11-2022 08:46 PM

It’s crazy how good this Grizzlies team can be when they execute the game-plan they did all season instead of trying to challenge the Warriors to a 3 point contest.

Pitt Gorilla 05-11-2022 09:22 PM

Memphis finna go up 50.

Not a great ending for the 76ers and they are going to need to get Embiid some help. Harden shockingly no showed tonight. /s

Just imagine if they'd chosen Butler over Simmons and shipped him off for what would've been a haul.

Lost a chance at a championship

Wonder if they move on from Doc

lcarus 05-12-2022 07:37 PM

What a horrid showing for the Sixers. At home with their backs against the wall and the Heat just wanted it more and were the better team.

PunkinDrublic 05-12-2022 10:19 PM

Mavs take it to 7 games against the top seed in the west. Even if we lose it’s a hell of a step up from being a playoff bubble team a year ago. Overrated ass Devin Booker got more mvp votes than Luka which shows you how disrespected he is.

Why not give Luka some legit help? Brunson is ok, but outside of that? I don't get it.

Dimwiddee was a huge help but he’s having a bad series. Before the series Phoenix had beaten us 11 straight. Hopefully we can get some good FAs in the offseason. Jason Kidd has completely turned the Mavs around.

I heard that Butler is not easy to handle and can poison the locker room, again lets see what he is able to do against Giannis or Tatum. 76ers are a joke with the chokers Harden, Rivers and Embiid.

jettio 05-13-2022 11:39 AM

So now that Lakers interviewed him as coaching candidate, I guess Mark Jackson is getting exposed for what had become obvious at the end of his tenure at Golden State.

It was obvious with his on court interviews and press conferences that he was getting wrapped up in religion and that he was not fit to be the coach.

I did not know all the stuff behind the scenes, but he said so much crazy shit in front of cameras that it always annoyed me to hear talking heads say that he was a good coach and would have done as much with the Warriors as Steve Kerr has done.

Now he is getting more than both barrels after ESPN arguably did the cover-up.

Cold blooded how this is coming out now, but he was obviously falling apart in his last days as Warriors coach and everybody needs to stop acting like there was anything questionable about the Warriors letting him go.

They actually chose Tobias Harris over Butler and actually paid him more money, if you can believe that.

ChiefBlueCFC 05-13-2022 01:39 PM

Hasn't Butler demanded to be traded from every team he has played for so far? Of course, he hasn't with Miami, but I believe he did that with Chicago, Minnesota and Philly... or did Philly not trade him and Jimmy picked Miami over Philly in free agency?

He was a FA, I believe. BUT, Philly signed and traded him to Miami.

lcarus 05-13-2022 07:58 PM

Tatum is on fire big time right now. This one might be going 7.

Sassy Squatch 05-13-2022 07:59 PM

Hope it does. Been a fantastic series and would love to cap it off with a winner take all game.

KC_Connection 05-13-2022 08:10 PM

Boston is better than this Bucks team without Middleton. Just a question of whether Giannis can have another superhuman effort in game 7 to get the win. Winner of this series is the NBA Finals favorite in my mind too.
