Andy assumed that the KC defense would not allow 5 TDs in the second half.. and assumed that 4 of those 5 TDs allowed wouldn't have all been given up in 2 minutes or less.

It was a fair and reasonable assumption, imho. No defense should ever collapse in such epic and unprecedented fashion.

And no coach should allow it to happen either. If need be you call a TO, round-up all the personnel associated with the defense and rip them a new asshole, you do it. Remind them of what's at stake, and that there will be hell to pay if they don't dig a little deeper and make a play. I don't care if "they know it", they might need to hear it from the boss.

The second half was 30 minutes long, not one play, so there were any number of opportunities to make adjustments. I'm sure we'll hear that they did, but I don't buy it.

But it's history, right?

It is history.. but recent enough history.. and under the same regime. That is why and only why it can matter to me now.

Very much agree with the other comments you just made.

I can definitely appreciate much of what you are saying. It also bothers me that Smith seems so laid back on the field. I don't want him to display a sniveling crybaby presence like Brady and Rivers.. but I would like him to show more intensity out there.

My concern is that he is willing to settle for what he has been doing... which makes the Andy + Alex relationship very frustrating. And that frustration is FINE with me when they win games.. not so much when they lose.

I don't want to think Smith is becoming complacent.. since imho, he has proven himself a very capable starter after so much shit in his first 5 years. I'd like to believe he still wants far more than that.. but I no longer feel that certain.

Can we agree to 75% of Brady? Fire is good...

haha, yes we can.

I admire that Brady is such a long-toothed vet and still has that fire. I know much of it is him just being a spoiled, entitled bitch... but all the same.. it's a fire I wish we see much more of in boring ole Al.

Sure but it became obvious what was happening after Smith fumbled. But we just curled up in a ball and prayed for the game to end.

Alex certainly doesn't do that.

Ya, if only Ware and the oline had a third time to run the same play from the ONE.

That's my point. The D isn't to blame for our last 2 losses, but you can't place blame on them for individual plays leading up to the final events. Same in the Indy game. The offense did enough the first 3 quarters, but in the end they did blow plays that would have bailed the D out. That does matter, but they certainly aren't the reason we lost that game. Reid's conservative play calling and the defense were issues.

Also, while we shouldn't have gone conservative, we still could have simultaneously drained the play clock every snap which we didn't. Milkman said we let some 3:30 left on the clock by not doing so.

....the bottom line is they win AND lose as a team. It's the fans who try to make it about one player.

What kind of locker room garbage is this? Who's paying you?

They win with defense, ST and luck. They lose with Alex Whiff. It's pretty simple.

Starts 4 less games on a crappy team and still produces more td's than alex. And I don't even like kap.

Stats-wise, the Chiefs are not a very good team. They've lucked into or relied on defensive/special teams scores to win. They prevent the other team from scoring a lot, but their rankings in nearly all major categories are not of a super bowl contender.

Total offense: 23
Pass offense: 22
Rush offense: 23
Points per game: 15

Total defense: 28
Pass defense: 19
Rush defense: 28
Scoring defense: 8

Out of the top 10 teams in both the AFC & NFC, the closest I can come to a comparison team is Tampa Bay and even they rank better in nearly every category - except points per game & scoring defense. Every other team does one or two things really well (top 10) whether it's offensively or defensively.

Fantasy football.

12th in efficiency - Still room to improve but this offense cannot be 'horrid' and be a 10-4 team. By your logic that the defense is doing all the work...then why isn't Denver in 1st?
