It was a fair and reasonable assumption, imho. No defense should ever collapse in such epic and unprecedented fashion.

And no coach should allow it to happen either. If need be you call a TO, round-up all the personnel associated with the defense and rip them a new asshole, you do it. Remind them of what's at stake, and that there will be hell to pay if they don't dig a little deeper and make a play. I don't care if "they know it", they might need to hear it from the boss.
The second half was 30 minutes long, not one play, so there were any number of opportunities to make adjustments. I'm sure we'll hear that they did, but I don't buy it.
But it's history, right?
