If "team sport"-team carries Alex from W to W, bailing his ass out, the only reward is further spouting of the ridiculous "all he does is win"-mantra from the Alex Smith Piss-Puddle Fan Club.

Every Alex fan just loves reverting to a TEAM stat in their rebuttals, that should be weighted more towards defense and special teams points.

Out of all the fans that have witnessed this scenario before, you have done it up front and personal. I have to admit you have some massive gonads to keep taking the abuse this franchise feeds you year after year.

To be fair, name a TEAM stat that matters more than winning. ALL of team's fans should care most about winning, no?

Can and has been said that wins mean nothing if no SB, but it takes enough wins just to get that SB chance, no?


We ALL want to win pretty, and have the #1 "ranked" offense in every stat. Yes, the stats are underwhelming... but pale in significance to wins, right?


All of that said.. and I genuinely mean this.. if they feel they can do better with some other QB, I welcome it. Alex Smith has simply not been impressive much this season. Maybe few or no QBs would be with all of the issues around him.. but I'm at a point where I am fine with finding out with someone else. At the very least, the level of CP hate for the next poor bastard at QB won't be worse or even near the level it is now. Win or lose, at least that much would be a nice silver lining.

You can use W/L when judging a TEAM, not in individual player.

Let me break this down:

Say you own a business and have 10 employees:

9 Employees bust their ass everyday to make your business successful.
The last employee, (that you are paying the most money) continues to do the job wrong, sit on his ass, and bring your business a bad reputation.

BUT... your business is very profitable. SO ALL YOUR SHIT EMPLOYEE DOES IS WIN.



How is this hard to understand?

1 Caveat to this whole scenario would be Andy Reid's role, and if he is the boss that is forcing his employee to suck at his job.

You don't get to play this game. You lost this privilege when you use general yardage, TD, and team yard totals to criticize one player (QB). They are ALL team stats... derived from their HC's philosophy.

It's football. It is ALL team results.

I can't watch another season pissed away with Alex Smith at the helm. Give me someone who at least gives us hope of improving at the most important position on offense.

Truth be told, Alex weighs little in the calculus for me.

He's proven he can win. He's proven he can come back [Chargers, Broncos]. He's proven he can ball out in the playoffs [Colts].

Does he do it all the time? No. But if he CAN, yet he DOESN'T, it's not an ironclad conclusion that he CAN, except when he alone CAN'T.

The bulk of the calculus after judging Alex capable shifts to trusting Andy and Dorsey to both keep frosty on roster evaluation and keep vigilant on new talent acquisition.

If Dorsey and Andy still have faith, I'm rolling with them. If they target a QB, wherever they target, be it a blockbuster trade, a later draft steal or even betting the farm on a blue chipper. I'll trust that as well.

As it stand now, Alex is not 'the' problem. Those who try to single out scapegoats in a team game are simpletons.

And all, and I mean ALL, the talk about the Hunts only want 'mediocrity' and are actively thwarting an express need, voiced by Andy/Dorsey and disregarded, for a better QB out of fear or cheapness is reeruned bullshit.
