Obviously its a position of dire need. But, last I heard it was a 1st rounder for 13 games. 12 in reality because he would need to get up to speed on the play calls? Seems steep to me without any guarantees of playing for us next year.

Isn't there a way to front load a deal with Thomas? Hypothetically pay him, I dont know, $22 million next year. Take stress off the cap for the remainder of his contract?

It definitely not ideal to have two of the highest paid safeties....but no one saw Berry missing 20 out of 21 games after signing a mega deal. Dorsey saw potential for a scenario like this though.

It's a strange situation...both KCs starting safeties are hurt coupled with Mahomes setting the NFL on fire. Their defense is allowing 500 yards a game...something has to give. Could signing Thomas make Sorensen expendable after this season? Is there a cash savings there? Thomas also provides long-term insurance in case Berry never gets back to 100%.


Dee Ford is injured too often to offer anything long term...and definitely not worth franchise tag money.

If they've got that many moving parts, they'll wanna keep it quiet. Agree to compensation with Seattle, a new deal with Thomas, probably have to restructure some deals somewhere as well.
