Soren Petro, who I usually agree with, was flat out wrong about Earl Thomas.

In no way is a second round pick more valuable than Earl Thomas. First, let's say you draft his equivalent. How long does it take him to get to that level. Second, the Chiefs are dogshit at drafting second round picks.

The window for the Super Bowl got sped the hell up when Mahomes blew up. It's currently "NOW" and for the next three years. Earl Thomas will be good for three years and a contract for him absolutely makes sense.

He's like "you'll regret it when it comes time to sign some of these young players."

Uh, no we won't, Soren. Not if we win a Super Bowl first.

I'll wait until I hear some concrete info from Nick Athan before I get too excited.

It was not a "below market deal" at the time. I believe, when signed, Thomas was the highest paid Safety in the league.

Berry signed for 5 and 50 when he was drafted

Who knows if this will happen.

But getting excited about it sure is fun!

There are some people that value draft picks above all else...do you think the Patriots would be better if they had kept Chandler Jones than the guys they drafted with that pick?

Draft picks have value..sometimes the player you can get has more value, it depends on the spot of the team. If you are a horrible rebuilding team, yea picks. Win now teams..players. Green Bay never signs any FA or makes trades look how they are still the Aaron Rodgers show just with a bunch of disappointing draft picks.

I've come to a realization, this market doesn't truly understand what it means to play for this year with the Chiefs. It's always been "next year" so that's why we are getting takes like the pick has more value.

There's a myriad of ways they could structure the contract. The bottom line is if they want him, they absolutely CAN do it.

BlackOp 09-25-2018 11:39 AM

Veach is an aggressive GM...and not afraid to deal picks to get who he wants. *cough Speaks*

He doesn't want to be there now. That bridge is likely burnt.

Mecca 09-25-2018 11:42 AM

The Seahawks done ****ed that up, he'd have stayed if they'd have simply said, you did us a solid 4 years ago so now we'll do you one back.
