I so hate when that comes up too... It's a ridiculous argument. This team absolutely does not win because of Alex Smith, not by a looooooong shot.

I think this argument is the one that aggravates the hell out of people.
I could shut up about Alex Smith, his play speaks for itself... but when people claim all he does is Win games.... ROARRRRR.

Haha, so many people give me shit about that at work. I don't work with any Chiefs fans. I work nights. When the Chiefs win, I'll come in to work all excited about Tyreek or Dee Ford or something and when I enter the room, I'll have 3-4 people laughing and saying, "all Alex Smith does is win!!!!" Because they know I am not happy that he is the Chiefs QB.

Funny thing is, whenever that razzing is over with, people always start talking about how good the Chiefs would be if they had a different QB. If it's one group of people who seem to unanimously think that Smith is a weak link on the Chiefs, it's the non-Chiefs fans...the hundreds of them I talk to, anyways.

There's a difference between an fan of a player and folks here that have been fans of this team for decades.

Keep spouting what you want to believe. Must make it easier to categorize people for you.

The distinction being missed is.. what once may have started out as the player fan.. doesn't mean it ends there.

An example would be a specific TV Soap. Have not watched one in a looooooong time, but the comparison is similar.

May have started out as a comical thing... or you watch it because your new gal does.. couldn't care less about it... but then you take note weeks/months later that... hey! I seem to be going out of my way to watch!?! and I'm cursing out and cheering when certain characters on the show do this or that?!? oh my! what has become of me?!?

You recognize that while there was that time that you didn't care much about it... you sure do now, and can't miss an episode. You actually enjoy the many characters, plots, and scenarios that play out. You find yourself bristling mad or you are smiling ear to ear when certain things unfold.

To me, that makes you a fan of the show... or in this case, team. I go well out of my way to watch the Chiefs every week. I suffer through the GDTs each week, and suffer each week's CP meltdown after every loss.. or ugly win. I suffer years of forum abuse (sniff sniff) to read about how I am a terrible fan and person. My heart races as these painful, close games come down to the end. Heart races a bit just before the games begin. Some of my weekly anxiety comes straight from the injury reports and matchups ahead. My girl of 16 years understands that at KC game-time, I am barely to be spoken to or distracted by outside sources.. no exceptions.. every game.. every year.

I do this.. for love of Chiefs football. Alex Smith at some point WILL be gone... and I'll still be doing this. It's not MY ****ing fault that Andy and Dorsey keep trotting him out there.

So you can keep calling me an Alex only fan... maybe others too.. but it will have as much impact as all of the thousands of insults prior. Brushed off... and I'll still be right here.. soaking up all things Chiefs.. and hoping that they push through to SB after SB.

You're the perfect definition of fake/fair-weather fan.

Fact.

You may be an Alex only fan, but at least you're realistic. If you really are a new fan we welcome you aboard.

On the other hand, Tigerbob continually spews his Alex Smith rhetoric and defends him no matter how bad he plays. I remember when Alex got hurt and Foles started playing well, Tigerbob started making excuses for Foles's fantastic performance against Indy.

Whatever TU does or truly feels is his own business. I don't claim to know for sure what other people are about.

If there was ever any time of doubt for me, it was when Foles came in for Smith that made it crystal clear to me where I'm at for this team. I was very intrigued and hopeful for Foles to do well.

I just for once want to see Andy Reid stop shackling this offense. Make Smith be a true difference maker... sink or swim.. for the rest of the season. If he sinks, draft an early QB and develop him. If he swims, draft an early QB and develop him any ****ing way.

ROFL ROFL ROFL

Well, I mean...we are a franchise who had a player kill himself in the parking lot...in front of the GM and HC a few years ago, a mere couple-few months prior to that same HC and GM being fired....all the while, banners were flying over the stadium and we had an OL who called out our fans...and then we hitched our wagon to Alex Smith a couple months later...pretty dramatic shit...and to think that's the first impression these Alexuals got of the Chiefs when they landed here. They say first impressions last.

I guess I'm just reaching for ways to make sense of this... ROFL
