Yeah, there's no way the Chiefs are giving him $20M AAV right after letting OBJ walk because they think he was overpaid.

Yeah, if that's where his market gets, the Chiefs won't be in on it.

I don't think it gets there but who knows? FA is weird.

Man, I just don't agree with this at all. There's absolutely a chance they're worse. In fact, it's probable they're worse at this point. More of a chance than them being equal or better, IMO.

which suggests the draft is the solution to this in Veach's mind.

Be prepared to give up multiple 1sts bc that’s what it’s gonna take

Well there's a lot of money and not many guys worth it...

Maybe the Chiefs, having made clear changes to their scheme to provide him more help over the 2nd half, just don't think he's a guy they want to build around at LT.

It may not be a disconnect over value as much as it is ability. They may just be looking for someone who's offering more of an ability to play on an island like Fisher and Schwartz were able to do when healthy.

I think that's a big part of it. I doubt Veach is very eager to pay top of the market, when Andy has to neuter the offense to mitigate Brown's shortcomings.

Yeah, thats what I'm thinking

Veach may well trade into the top 15. this years first, next years first and something else - a 3rd maybe?

Probably desperate to get the LT situation under financial control as much as anything for the next 5 years which it could be, if the 1st round pick works out. Still, a big gamble.

Pipkins was far better than Wylie last year up until he got hurt. He's the absolute guy I want to steal in FA. I think he has a really bright future ahead.

Dillard is the bigger gamble, obviously, but he's played okay in limited work. I wouldn't not hedge my bets in the draft but at least it doesn't force you into an absolute.

Trading for Tunsil is a pipe dream that has a far worse net effect than just signing Brown does.

It's do something like what I have or go all-in in a big move in round 1. There's literally zero alternative.

There are three 1st round caliber LTs unless you really think Skoronski can stay at LT (I don't). I like Wright but he's not a LT. That means the probability of getting one goes way down by pick 14.

The Bears, Falcons, Cardinals, Jets, Titans, Patriots, and Steelers have all been pretty actively looking at tackles.

We aren't getting one by trading into the 20's, no matter what folks want to hope for.

It's so weird how Dillard gets so much talk..dude sat the bench after being a 1st round pick...Philly developed lineman, just not him I guess...I mean shit he got his job taken by a rugby player.

All those teams aren't taking tackles...

RunKC 03-07-2023 01:04 PM

Well we did just see 2 tackles that gave up the most pressure as well as get chips all the damn time in a season and we still got the 1 seed.

If that’s the case then why not try to get the best rookie LT and use the money to build other parts of the team?

Injuries and COVID man.

Started as a rookie
Injured in year 2 with a Biceps tear
Mailata just ended up beating him out in year 3, and we can't say Mailata isn't a hell of a player, but he still played LT with Mailata at RT when Lane Johnson was out in year 3 then got covid late in the year
Injured in year 4 with a broken forearm

I hate to call him a brokedick, even though he kinda has been, because it was just a couple of really unfortunate, not so common, injuries.

It's not for a complete lack of talent.

Of course not, but you don't think 3 of them are?

There is 1 legit LT in FA in Brown and a few stopgaps.

I'm going to guess Arizona trades down and if they do then they very well could take one.

I'd bank on Tennessee taking one.

New England is highly likely. When Bill needs a LT he usually goes and takes one in the 1st.

Pittsburgh needs tackles badly and that has been the bulk of their focus aside from DL.

If you think the top 3 tackles are making it past 17, you're smoking better shit than I have available.

After watching their offense run the Ruby scrum 45 times in the Superbowl it ALL makes sense now!

I don't think the Cardinals take an OT I expect them to go defense.

NE is 50/50 because they have zero weapons. I don't think any OTs are going top 10 either.

Just a feeling but I think Veach signs OBJ to a deal and everyone here will bitch about him being over paid.
