Since some are dissatisfied with AS11's play who do you think they should start at QB after the bye.

Probably because we're sick of you all coming in here like you know something we don't about Alex Smith. Probably because the 9ers swindled the Chiefs out of two perfectly good draft picks for a mediocre game manager. Probably because it is overbearing when 49er fans try to convince us what a great deal we got. Probably because you asked stupid rhetorical questions like "who would you start instead next week." Probably because Jason Campbell would have been just as good for half the money and none of the draft picks. :shake:

Red Dawg 11-06-2013 09:43 PM

I hate Smiths stats, they straight up suck. He has not been good lately but his ability to not turn the ball over is a big reason we are undefeated. Not turning the ball over is more important than td passes. It leads to more wins period. It must because he is like 27-5.

I would say swindled would be putting it pretty strong.
And I for one did not want Smith to leave.

Andy Reid passes the ball, Harbaugh runs the ball. They still ripped us a new one on that trade.

Nightfyre 11-06-2013 09:56 PM

Yea, if only the 49ers had Smith's 6.09y/a instead of CK's 8.0. :hmmm:
If only Kaep could have taken 26 sacks like Smith, instead of 15... :hmmm:

Disagree completely.

Yards per completion:

Kaepernick #2
Smith #33

Yeah.

Because pioli said that about cassel it can never be true about any other qb, right?

Matt Ryan doesn't need his all pro wrs, tes. Brady can do it without welker and gronk. Big Ben don't need no mike Wallace.

Apparently qbs league wide can win games all on their own throwing to scrubs.

Well, we've got to get a better line, tight end, and receivers. Then, we can be the greatest game-managing machine that ever played NFL football.

A lofty, and inspiring goal.

Your only path to getting rid of the Niner fans around here is if Alex starts losing and gets benched. You don't want that, do you?

Dwayne Bowe is a stud. Andy and John know this and are paying him accordingly.

Avery had 800 yards last year.

Charles is a top 3 RB.

We have talent.

Wait. hold up, you said that the LEADERS, now its 6 of 8? You are confusing me dude. make up which side you want to be on.

Well, not necessarily a coincidence. Usually the best qbs tend to have the best talent around them.

You know, Welker, Demariyus, Decker, Julius Thomas,

Jordy Nelson, James Jones, Boykin, Randall Cobb

Kenny stills, Marques Colston, Darren sproles, some dude named Jimmy Graham

Vernon Davis, Anquan Boldin, Kyle Williams.

Aj Green Eifert, Gresham, Sanu, Marvin Jones.

Then there is this group of FANTASTIC DEEP THREATS.

Anthony Fasano, Donnie Avery, Dwayne Bowe, Midget McCluster.

Are you starting to see the DIFFERENCE here?

Yeah, and without Pitta, and Boldin, how is that going for them this year?

Joe Flacco is a franchise qb. His performance in the playoffs showed everyone. He is elite. Why are his numbers no where near what they were?

Boldin was worth getting rid of for a measly 6th round pick.

Pitta wasn't known as a super star tight end.

Why is Joe struggling?

Why is tom brady struggling. Tom Brady is the end all be all.

???? Great qbs, carry franchises.

Stop saying Alex Smith "leads." Our defense scored more points than the offense did against Buffalo for god's sake.

Having had that same offense for a season and a half, I completely understand where you are coming from.

Kind of like driving a VW. Not exciting, but at least it gets you where you want to go. (For me, having been taking the bus or even walking for the previous 8 seasons, I was pretty happy with the VW.)

Now, having a Porsche, of course, I enjoy it much more that the VW. I understand your envy of the Porsche, but hey, we can't all drive sports cars. Keep working and maybe you can have a Porsche someday too, or even convert your existing VW into a Porsche.

For the time being, try being happy you are not on the bus or walking.

I didn't say that it did. I do think you, and your sidekicks are undervaluing Smith, based on stats. And I know that sounds absurd to you, because you don't scratch your ass unless PFF says it's a good idea.

Smith is a quality veteran starting QB. I can't think of anyone (in the real world) that would say he isn't. He's flawed, sure, He's the opposite of a Romo type gunslinger. Cautious to a fault. But i do absolutely believe that any other QB that the Chiefs could've acquired in the off-season would have cost the Chiefs games, plural, This season.

I admit Geno Smith is playing better than I thought he would, and could become good in a few years, but like you said, 9-0 doesn't happen very often, and you must take advantage while its here, and I do feel Geno would squander that record by costing a game, possibly in the playoffs.

Anyway, continue, but I know Smith is helping them win, and I'm confident in saying that if any other QB that was available is here instead, the Chiefs aren't 9-0.

So full of fail.

Alex has not been a quality starting vet QB this season. He hasn't thrown a TD in 5 of 9 games this season. Has been atrocious on third down, and can't utilize his weapons.

Also, Jason Campbell would be9-0 with this defense.

Do we need to go to the archives for your comments on Matt Cassel? Let's not get crazy here. Cassel had 12 picks in only 8 games last year. Matt had a pretty good game this year against a sinking Steelers team in London. He padded his stats in a horrible loss against the Panthers but still only had 241 yards on 44 pass attempts even though he completed 73%. He also threw 2 picks that game. Last night he handed the ball off to Pederson for the win.

Guess the other 52 guys, coaches, front office personal had nothing to do with any of that.

Sherman. The winningest FB in the NFL.

Not saying he's the only reason for the wins but he's been part of 2 huge turn arounds for 2 different NFL franchises. You can't say that about any other player on the team.

Over the last 3 seasons? Nope, that would probably be Miller from the 49ers.

QB is the most important position on the field unless that means giving credit to Alex Smith for winning.

Got it.

Sure, but let's not pretend if he was with Jacksonville the last few years he would be 26-5 or whatever.

We didn't trade for any other starters outside of fullback...

Has he really only thrown for 300+ yards 3 times in his career? I don't think I believe that.

How often do you make confident predictions for something that happens less than 5 percent of the time?

Just curious.

I also think the idea that the Chiefs have been holding back is a bit of. They didn't hold anything back in the first half against the Browns. You don't hold things back in close games, which the Chiefs have been in all season.

I find it highly unlikely the Chiefs have any awesome plays/formations/schemes they haven't already used, more than halfway through the season. That's not the way coaches work, even at the college level (where they have much more margin for holding things back against more inferior opponents).
