Well I don't think KU is too concerned about their national ranking at this point under a new regime. Building a program comes through recruiting and victories. So far, so good in 2013.

If you laugh at that I can't imagine what you do when you watch Missouri football.

That's the difference between our schools and football. I've seen mine come back from a one score deficit. You probably weren't aware that was allowed in college football, so I understand you giddiness, misplaced as it is.

Enjoy winning at basketball, and enjoy being ridiculed for having an embarrassingly bad football team. If the least humble KU BB fans wouldn't act like Bronco fans about Bill Self's teams, there probably wouldn't be so much shit flung at KU. JMO.

Well, yes and no. We would be additionally fired up if we had a successful football program to cheer for, but we do not get fired up for basketball as a default to football. They are not dependent on one another. While the BB may be a PROFESSIONAL football forum, the thread certainly isn't about that. Do we really need to hash out something so mundane?

Well, your opinion sucks. We will enjoy winning a basketball, and its just really hard to take crap from fans of schools that, while they might have a marginally better football team most years, still have nothing that really amounts to much, and its obvious this eats away at such fans so much that they have to try and kick the down sports program when they get the opportunity to. Its like a verbal bully that tries to find the one fault in someone else, despite other obvious strengths, because belittling it constantly is the only perverse pleasure they can muster.

You know who KU fans don't take constant crap from? OU and UT fans. You know why? because they have football programs that are "real" football programs. They don't have to kick around KU because its beneath them. They don't have to downplay KU basketball, because they realize what its like to be a titan in their sport. But not all the "middlings" that might have a good year once a decade that you never hear the end of it, that never have to keep taking whatever pot shot they can to cover the pain of having to cheer for a school that never really brings home the goods.

That's why your opinion sucks.

Bowser 09-28-2013 08:17 PM

That's cool, but your opinion is reeruned, so there's that.

Bowser 09-28-2013 08:18 PM

I don't respect OU at all, they were total asswipes during realignment, acting like they were some sort of ultimate catch. They deserve derision for te Wallflowers remark. Hope they lose every game forever. As for Texas they are what they are, rich and important and we rarely enter each others thoughts. I do appreciate them cutting us monster checks every fiscal year.

Only 2 undefeated teams left in the SEC...Mizzou and Bama.

Saul Good 09-29-2013 07:59 AM

The Big 1? has completed its out of conference schedule finishing 22-8...worst winning percentage among the major conferences...trailing the B1G at 36-11.

Counting only opponents from BCS conferences, the Big 1? finishes 3-4.

No word on what Sagarin thinks of this.

If you're going to take a shot be ready for the repercussions. We can continue to watch the types of Chris Harris and Aqib Talib make big time plays in primetime and in the playoffs.

Or we can sit and watch Aldon Smith driving around drunk.

Aldon needs help. Obviously he's a troubled man with a great deal of talent. But that alcohol problem.....I feel bad for him and I hope he gets better because that sucks for any human or their family, to go through.

I just wish the Mizzou culture that tolerates and applauds drinking & driving (Laurie, Pinkel, et al) would be taken more seriously by their fanbase. Before something awful happens.

Back when Mizzou was still around I made a thread documenting all their drug and alcohol abuse problems.

I agree it would be good to see them try and implement some kind of institutional control.

When their biggest donor and then the head football coach are both nailed for DUI in Columbia, it sets a terrible precedent for the athletes who go through there. How much of Aldon's alcoholism is attributable to these "leaders of men" is impossible to know. But the question must be asked.

OU hasn't been ranked #1 since Mizzou whipped their asses, so I'm pretty sure they would laugh that Kansas fans would even try to argue that they are anywhere near as good as Mizzou.

Alabama and Mizzou are tied 2-2 all time, but obviously Bama is miles ahead now.

I prefer to stay out of these pissing matches but I have to say something here. You can't really criticize Aldon Smith's behavior while at the same time praising Aqib Talib. Talib has been arrested multiple times for assault and battery and was suspended by the NFL for steroid use and violating their personal conduct policy. He is not a choir boy by any stretch of the imagination. He is a good football player though just like Aldon Smith is.

I've already noted that Aldon Smith is very talented. Probably the best Missouri player to play in the NFL maybe ever.

But he's currently not playing in the NFL and there doesn't seem to be a timetable for his return if ever.

Another short-bus fight. Sad. Did you know that when MU left they finished 7th o the Big 12 schools in historical win % just ahead of Kansas? It was a fun 120-year fight at the back of the short bus but now MU is the special needs kid going to a new school

You'd think that KU could have finished ahead of us in the Big 12 at least once ever...but you'd be wrong. They never did. Then, they had to watch Mizzou walk away with the drum in their last ever football game in the Big 12 and the conference championship trophy in their last ever basketball game in the Big 12.

Meanwhile, we're 4-0. Congrats on winning a game against a division I team, btw.

I know you sometimes don't ever think before you post, but the names that comes to mind quickly are Kellen Winslow (Sr) James Wilder, Tony Galbreath, Henry Marshall, Russ Washington, Roger Wehrli, and Eric Wright all say hello!

Just for grins and giggles I bolded those who are in the NFL Hall of Fame.

I considered Winslow. So as of right now, yes...he's the best MU has ever put in the league imo.

Hopefully Aldon can make it back into the league and continue a promising career. I think he has potential to join those two in the HOF.

I got to watch Mizzou lose to Norfolk State. That was the only one I saw live. It was more humorous than anything else.

James Wilder was REALLY damn good, got stuck on some horrid Buccaneers teams.
