Last I heard from the talking heads on ESPN was that a sign and trade is not possible in the NFL. You have to make the trade and then work out a contract. Just going off what I heard. No idea if thats true or not.

Why would ESPN get something that basic wrong? Are you telling me that Thomas and the Seahawks aren't trading Thomas without a long term deal in place with the new team?

Not quite. You would work out the contract with the agent. You couldn't SIGN the contract until the trade was completed. So yes, they would agree to a contract in principle, execute the trade, and then sign the contract.

Andy Reid wouldn't talk specifically about Seattle's unhappy safety, Earl Thomas, and whether the Chiefs would be interested in trading for him. But he seemed to indicate they're not in that market when he said in talking about trades in general: "I know the rumors are out there but that's not where we're at

"That's not where we're at"

Wtf does that even mean? Coach speak. It means nothing.

I did check, and Thomas DID start following the Chiefs on Twitter yesterday. So that part is at least true.

To my understanding, he follows a lot of teams. Wouldn't be surprised if his agent told him to, to create smoke.

I hate megathreads. Who started this sum bitch?

This isn't a megathread. It's about one specific topic that has a lot of burn. Do you want a thread for literally every quotation or piece of news on a topic?

*****Official First and ten from our own 25 yard line MNF thread*****

*****Official Second and three from the 32 yard line MNF thread*****

*****Official First and ten from the 12 yard line RED ZONE MNF thread******

*****Official Patrick Mahomes twelve yard touchdown to Travis Kelce MNF thread*****

*****Official extra point thread*****

NFL: "Safety is a position we no longer care about, therefore Eric Reid not getting signed has seriously nothing to do with his lawsuit, there is no collusion, it's just safety doesn't matter as much."

NFL Games: *breaks passing records every week of the season so far*

For a dude that is not keeping up with this thread, can you all summarize where we are at right now?

For what purpose? either he's getting traded or he isn't, and certainly the agent would know better. He can call any GM directly, I doubt he needs to bury a twitter follow so that the most hardcore of nerd message board fans can create smoke.

I would, however, say that Thomas hears wind of KC being interested and follows them to see if there's any smoke, but I doubt it is to create said smoke.

smoke.

smoke smoke smokey smoke.

He was spotted with the third cousin of a friend of a brother's sister who knows a realtor that specializes in finding homes for athletes in Leawood.

Chris Mortenson releases a report that the Chiefs have re-ignited trade talks for Earl Thomas. Or something like that, after reports that the Thomas/Seattle situation has gotten worse and he's not attending meetings/practice regularly.

Some other talking head confirms that the Chiefs were having talks with Seattle for Thomas back in the offseason.

Andy Reid gives a blank, "That's not where we're at" comment regarding the rumors.

A bunch of Rando's on the internet are floating rumors of Chiefs 2nd/3rd picks for Thomas, 4 yr 55mill.
