Yup. Cut those out completely for a couple of weeks, if not forever. It's hard on your forearms. Just substitute another exercise.

Flop,

I'm sure everything is fine... but you're a big guy. You know all of the cardio shit that goes along with being a big dude. You should probably have a talk with your doctor about it. Of course, I'm not terribly confident in the advice given by most doctors or their ability to predict heart issues, but it can't hurt.

The most important thing is that you're losing weight and slimming down, though. That's going to do wonders for your heart.

And really, I might not even know that much about it, but my wife's father (Trent's dad) was a big guy as well, and you know that he had a fatal heart attack fairly early in life. Hell, he and I had hiked down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back out a year before that, so he wasn't in horrible shape. He was just a really big dude, and I think that just took a toll on his heart.

I appreciate the advice. I'm not big on the doctor's advice either but I should definitely have some blood work done just to make sure that I'm still in good shape. Just a routine physical. I haven't had one since I weighed 450. Lots has changed since then.

I don't recall hearing about your father in law. I'm sorry to hear that. One of my biggest motivators was to try and not have my wife be a widow before she turns 40. She's already 7 years younger than me.

I wouldn't just settle for a physical. I'd push for an echocardiogram, too, just to make sure that all the stress hasn't caused some kind of physical damage.

I'll definitely do that when I get my health insurance back. Definitely.

Awesome.

I'm of the opinion that echos should be a part of every routine physical. There are sooo many heart problems that can be caught early with a good echo. Just ask John Ritter.

Bought a new product today called "stevia."

I was just looking for a substitute, something that can act as sweetener to put in my green tea. But, a sweetener that doesn't have an effect on sugar levels or increase. I think "stevia" is just that. I got tired of drinking plain green tea. It was just BLAH! plain and boring.

i've heard good things about stevia. It's a natural product, that is sugar free, calorie free, and it helps assist in the metabolization of glucose.

I use Stevia all the time. It's ****ing great shit!

Really?

If you don't mind me asking you,

what have noticed about it and how has it worked for you?

Silock 03-27-2010 06:28 PM

I haven't noticed anything from it. I just like it because it's a zero calorie sweetener... and it's sweet, so it does its job!

Mr. Flopnuts 03-27-2010 06:30 PM

Silock, how many calories a day do you eat when you're working out and not cutting?

Silock 03-27-2010 06:59 PM

1800 or so.

I figured your BMR would be that much at a minimum. How do you not lose weight still?

Life catches up with everyone. An extra milkshake or some Oreos here and there makes a big difference.

Good idea. I'll keep that in mind.

Silock 03-27-2010 08:36 PM

Yeah, it's just easier if you keep your diet in check on the days when you're not super-tempted so that you can get away with more on the days that you are.
