Carolina Panthers - B (chiefscafan)
1. QB Brian Brohm 2. MLB Jared Mayo 3. RB Chris Johnson 3. DT Dre Moore 4. SS Craig Steltz 5. DE Trevor Scott 6. DE/OLB Chase Ortiz 7. OT/OG Demitrious Bell The Panthers had a rather unorthodox Draft in this mock, and I guarantee you there isn't another Panthers mock on the world wide web that even closely resembles this one. Nonetheless, while there were some headscratchers, there were also some valued acquisitions that the Panthers will be better off having made. Jared Mayo is virtually first round talent, and Craig Steltz and Dre Moore were great value picks as well. All these picks directly influence the the heart of the Panthers' defense at DT, MLB, and SS. The Panthers' D can take leaps and bounds from that alone. Chris Johnson was a criticized pick, but value is value and while I would have opted for someone else, you can't argue with that kind of promise. One of the most bizarre picks of the entire Draft was Trevor Scott in the 5th, a guy most people don't believe will even be Drafted or end up on an NFL team. Even crazier is that Panthers' mock GM chiefscafan suggested he might be a two-way player in the NFL, which is ridiculous. But that doesn't damage the quality of the rest of the Panthers' job here. The Panthers' entire Draft simply and utterly depends on Brohm. I personally believe he was a premature pick who will bust in the NFL, but if he turns out well, this is an A- Draft. I just disagree. |

For all the shit you give Milkman, his draft looks like the work of Scott Pioli or Bill Polian compared to this. |
Chicago Bears - B (Sanka)
1. WR Malcolm Kelly 2. RB Felix Jones 3. FS Quintin Demps 3. OT Duane Brown 4. QB Eric Ainge 5. DT Andre Fluellen 6. OLB Jordan Dizon 7. WR Anthony Aldridge I had initially thought that Malcolm Kelly was one of the best WRs in a Draft class that had virtually no top-tier guys. But recently Kelly's on record as having run a horrendous 4.6ish 40. But I'm still going to reward Sanka for the pick since he couldn't have known at the time. Felix Jones was a brilliant pick in the second, and while I thought their third round was very disappointing, the Bears picked things up on the second day. The Bears' biggest missing piece is QB, and they waited until virtually the last second to grab one. Ainge should easily be an improvement over Grossman. He's tall and athletic, he's got a great arm and a good head on his shoulders. It's just too bad the Bears had to reach twice in the third instead of going for Josh Johnson. The step down is significant. But Fluellen, Aldridge, Dizon... these were all value picks that should help the Bears in areas of need. Overall a solid Draft except for the third round. |

The Panthers at least grabbed a good DT and SS and a potentially Pro Bowl MLB to outweight out the iffy Brohm pick. The Bell and Ortiz picks could easily offset the Scott pick, in my opinion. And Chris Johnson I go both ways on -- was not a great pick for need but was a great pick for value. |

That's the cool thing about ZBS, it requires smaller OLmen which always seem to fall past where they should be taken. |

You will see, Duane Brown is going to be a solid starter, and Demps I will agree was a reach. But he could play either FS or CB. |

I just would have gone for Josh Johnson, but I'm kind of high on the kid. |
Sanka make the Titans pick. :)

Well Buffalo is taking a kid that is familar to some folks in this area. He was a stud in D2 and for a 7th round pick, give him some time to develop behind Marshawyn Lynch and you might have a pretty good backup. Buffalo Bills select Xavier Omon, RB Northwest Missouri State.
