It's debatable. But come on, Missouri?

Sure, they beat up on easy opponents, but isn't that what good teams do? Yes, the defense looks much improved and we have an All American candidate at CB. Moving Rivera to the outside and putting Mortensen at MLB seems to have been a great move. I am optimistic that we finally have a good QB in Reesing. A quality QB is something that we've been missing for most of the Mangino era (yes we had Whittemore, but he was only around for a season, IIRC). He makes very smart decisions. He throws the ball away when there is nobody open. Plus, we have a nice group of receivers. Ed Warinner is doing a fantastic job as the new OC.

All of this looks great, but the Jayhawks still have some things to prove. Obviously, Mangino needs to prove he can win on the road, especially in the B12. However, I look at the game at ISU last year and it gives me a little hope. Reesing came in at QB in that game and helped them pull out a win. A game that they probably would have lost without a good QB. IMO, this team is probably Mangino's most talented in his tenure at KU. I maintain that this team should win no less than 8 games. The way they have looked, they may even win more. Starting this Saturday, we'll get a better idea of what kind of team we have.

Did you know Reesing only has 13 pass attempts on the road? :)

Well, it did take awhile for Mangino to realize that Meier may not be the future at the QB position. As I recall, Reesing didn't start getting playing time until the last 2 or 3 games of the season last year. And all the games this year have been at home.

Edit: looking at the box score, I guess Meier did have the majority of snaps at ISU last year. I still think Reesing is better. I guess we'll see as the season progresses.

Honestly, I have no idea about Mizzou football history. But you gotta admit, KU has some rich history in football, despite the fact that the program hasn't been great since the late 60s.

It's obvious Reesing is better than Meier. Alot of people knew that before the season last year.

Why do any of us have to defend it? You're just another typical insecure KStater who feels the need to talk a bunch of sh*t before a big game. Yeah, in the 90's and early part of this decade, you used to blow us out of the water. Now both teams have pretty similar talent and the games have balanced out. This game goes either way, but don't be shocked if KU blows your A$$ out of the water. It would great to watch all you purple wearing pu$$y's walking out of the stadium at the end of the 3rd quarter, but I don't think that's going to happen. It's going to be a great game, probably the best one the two teams have had in a really long time.

That's the one thing I really hate about being a KU fan. There are so many damn bandwagon Jayhawk fans that only come around when we're doing well. And on top of that, they generally are just basketball fans.

You're right though, these fans only pay attention to football when we win a big game or beat a rival. Then they talk sh*t for about a week and disappear again.

It's sad though, because a lot of these people can't even see that a lot of good things are going on with KU's football program.

Oh yeah no doubt about it, but people only seem to remember the last decade or so. It is no different than K-State basketball. People forget about the great years because they've been bad for the last decade.

Personally I think you only go so far on tradition. KU has been bad at football for a long time. Just like K-State with basketball. When you've been bad at a sport for over a decade that's what people see and eventually you are what you are. Most of the people that go to K-State currently weren't even born or where so young they don't remember the last time they did anything meaningful in basketball. Last year was the first time in almost twenty years they've done anything and it wasn't much, but it was a start. I think both fan bases are ready to explode and embrace their down sport. Look at the support K-State recieved after just one year. That was a perfect storm type thing with Huggins and the kids he lined up for the program. Eighteen months ago we where stuck in the Woolridge rut and now most Wildcat fans can't wait for basketball to start.

I hope KU can get something going with their football team. It would make the rivalry an even better one if this game meant something like it does this year. I can't remember the last time these two teams actually met with a legit shot at winning the North. It has been one sided up until the last few years and K-State is down a little bit right now. I don't want these games to be close because they are both mediocre. I want them to both be legit Big 12 North contenders. Kind of like basketball this year. There will be so much anticipation for these two teams to butt heads this year there will be somebody posting an official game thread a week before the game.

63-36-5 KU holds the all time series lead... pretty handily, unless Snyder comes back from the grave[COLOR=red]

Well imagine that.

Lzen 10-03-2007 12:14 PM

Justin McKinney, KSU CB

"I feel like we're tougher than those guys," McKinney said of Kansas. "We're faster than them. We're smarter than them. In my head, I don't see how you can compare us to them."

:shake: I hope KU posts this in their locker room this week.

If KSU wins on Saturday, I'll say it was a great job. You're ranked and should beat KU.
If you lose- KU only looks that much better and you've one again got nothing to talk shit about a school that has more tradition and prestige than both schools combined.

Really, it's just wasted breath. I've seen KU in person once this season, and followed the rest of the games. If they win, great job for Mangino. If not- it's not the end of the world.

As for the picture above- it was meant as a joke to start with, by a couple of very good LB's. Banks Floodman, Kevin Kane and Nick Reid made up a pretty damn good LB core, but whatever.

First of all KU has no Football tradition unless being awful and impotent is a tradition. Secondly, KU's football fanbase leaves at halftime to go to the wheel. KSU's Football tradition and history is checkered but they have been and will continue to be a national power while KU tries to find it's own dick with both hands. Silly KU football fans think a good basketball team and a pretty campus means tradition.

This game should be a classic!

It won't be a classic unless you think KSU ass raping your QB on the 50 yard line is classic.

Great, KU is the 100 year champion of the toilet bowl. Congrats, KSU has moved on.
