No kidding, people around here think Herm throws people under the bus. Mike's been the master of that for years.

Totally true...but as someone pointed out this next year is pretty much a free year for the GM if they keep Herm...

Personally, with so much invested in our 2008 draft, I'm ready for an entire new coaching staff capable of developing Dorsey...because I swear to God if Dorsey is a bust it's just going to set back this team even more...we really need him to be the stud he was advertised as.

I can't remember a lame-duck coach surviving with a new GM.

They have to find a staff with a clue how to use talent. Gunther Cunningham is like the special ed. coordinator. He ****ing ruins players.

The guy is a good football coach...but before that Super Bowl Pitt fans were calling for his head on a year to year basis...especially during the whole Kordell Stewart/Tommy Maddox run...Cowher lucked into Big Ben and that's that...

The whole argument of separating the coach and the QB does not make sense...what would Belichek be without Brady? (he did not even make the playoffs)..come on - that argument just can't be made in most cases where a HC has won all their SB's with one QB - which is MOST of them....

Damn, I thought for a minute you were talking about herm.

I think it's a bit ridiculous that every season 1/4 of the current head coaches in the NFL get fired...

We're going to have to get real lucky to find an actual coach worth a shit with all of that turnaround. It's Super Bowl or bust for every team, every year...I think those expectations are a little much...

I think it is practical for a team to make 1 Super Bowl appearance every decade...winning 1 every 10 or 15 years...with the parity in the NFL today.

So this is going to be one unhappy board for a very long time...if we did win a Super Bowl...what would everyone do the following year when we went 8-8...followed by 10-6 and a 1st round loss? Look for a new coach and GM?

Pooch 12-30-2008 04:53 PM

I know we are waiting on a new Gm but how can herm still have a job!!

I don't know...Vermeil put together GREAT offenses...Shanahan hasn't had a great offense...really ever.

We had a championship caliber football team TWICE during the Vermeil era...2003 and 2005 (didn't make the playoffs in 2005 but I STILL believe we were the best team on paper...things just didn't fall our way)...

If we got Vermeil when he was 50...he would have been an outstanding coach and I guarantee we would have won a Super Bowl during his tenure. It wasn't just luck that he put together that Rams team...he did the same thing in KC but the defense came up short...that dude was a football mastermind that could at least admit mistakes.
